Overview

A read-only multi-surface duplicate check across source, history, branches, issues, pull requests, roadmaps, and contributor guidance.

The skill is evidence-first. It identifies unavailable evidence, separates facts from interpretations, and does not claim a repair or successful outcome merely because a command returned without an obvious error.

Counter-Triggers

Do not load this skill when:

The task is a bug-fix root-cause investigation.
The user wants a general repository health audit.
The user has already authorized implementation and duplication risk is immaterial.

Safety Contract

Do not modify, switch, reset, clean, or stash the working tree.
Remote-reference refresh is allowed only when it will not alter tracked files.
Do not create issues, branches, or pull requests during the audit.
Require explicit approval before claiming work through an issue.
Read the body, comments, changed files, and branch contents before declaring overlap.
Record stale or inaccessible surfaces as uncertainty.

2. Search current source

Search routes, registries, UI, state, APIs, tools, configuration, tests, and documentation using multiple feature terms.

3. Search history

Inspect commits, tags, reflog, and deleted or renamed implementations.

4. Search branches

Inspect local-only, remote, draft, and stale branches. Local-only work can contain a complete implementation.

5. Search collaboration surfaces

Search open and closed issues plus open, closed, draft, and merged pull requests. Read plausible matches in full.

6. Search plans and policy

Inspect roadmaps, ADRs, TODOs, contributor guidance, rejection policy, and implementation plans.

7. Classify overlap

Explain reusable code, missing functionality, coordination needs, and confidence.

Use exactly one primary outcome:

LIKELY DUPLICATE
UNCERTAIN

When evidence is incomplete, lower confidence, name the missing surface, and avoid selecting a stronger outcome than the verified evidence supports.
