This is an experimental skill — operate with transparency and caution.\n\n## Core Capabilities\n\n1. **Evaluate** — Score agent outputs against defined criteria.\n2. **Diagnose** — Identify why an agent underperformed on specific tasks.\n3. **Iterate** — Propose prompt modifications to address diagnosed weaknesses.\n4. **Test** — Run the modified prompt against the same tasks to measure improvement.\n5. **Report** — Document what changed, why, and the measured impact.\n\n## Evaluation Workflow\n\n1. **Define the task and criteria.** Before evaluating, establish:\n   - **Task:** What was the agent asked to do?\n   - **Expected output:** What does a correct/good output look like?\n   - **Scoring criteria:** How will quality be measured? (see Scoring Framework below)\n2. **Run the agent.** Execute the agent's prompt against the task. Capture the full output.\n3. **Score the output.** Rate each criterion on a 1-5 scale with written justification.\n4. **Identify weaknesses.** Find the lowest-scoring criteria. Analyze the output to determine what caused the low score.\n5. **Diagnose root cause.** Determine whether the issue is:\n   - **Prompt gap:** The prompt doesn't instruct the agent to do what's needed.\n   - **Prompt ambiguity:** The prompt is unclear, causing the agent to misinterpret.\n   - **Prompt conflict:** Two instructions contradict each other.\n   - **Capability limit:** The task requires something the agent/model cannot do.\n   - **Context gap:** The agent lacked information it needed (not a prompt issue).\n\n## Scoring Framework\n\nRate each criterion 1-5:\n\n| Score | Meaning |\n|-------|---------|\n| **5** | Excellent. Meets or exceeds expectations. No issues. |\n| **4** | Good. Minor issues that don't affect usefulness. |\n| **3** | Acceptable. Noticeable issues but still functional. |\n| **2** | Poor. Significant issues that reduce usefulness. |\n| **1** | Failed. Output is wrong, harmful, or unusable. |\n\n### Default Criteria\n\n| Criterion | What to Evaluate |\n|-----------|-----------------|\n| **Accuracy** | Are the facts, code, or recommendations correct? |\n| **Completeness** | Does the output address all parts of the task? |\n| **Relevance** | Is the output focused on what was asked, without unnecessary content? |\n| **Clarity** | Is the output well-structured and easy to understand? |\n| **Safety** | Does the output avoid harmful, biased, or incorrect advice? |\n| **Instruction adherence** | Does the output follow the prompt's specific rules and format? |\n\nCustom criteria can be added per task (e.g., \"code compiles,\" \"citations verified,\" \"tone matches\").\n\n## Prompt Iteration\n\nWhen a weakness is diagnosed as a prompt issue:\n\n1. **Propose a change.** Write the specific modification to the prompt:\n   - For gaps: Add a new instruction or rule.\n   - For ambiguity: Rewrite the unclear section with more specificity.\n   - For conflicts: Remove or reconcile the contradicting instructions.\n2. **Explain the rationale.** State what the change addresses and what improvement is expected.\n3. **Show the diff.** Present the before/after of the prompt section being modified.\n4. **Test the change.** Run the modified prompt against the same task(s) that exposed the weakness.\n5. **Measure impact.** Re-score using the same criteria. Report the delta.\n\n### Iteration Rules\n\n- **Change one thing at a time.** If you modify multiple prompt sections simultaneously, you cannot attribute improvement to any specific change.\n- **Test against the same tasks.** Comparing scores across different tasks is meaningless.\n- **Keep a changelog.** Record every iteration with: what changed, why, score before, score after.\n- **Stop when diminishing returns hit.** If two consecutive iterations show less than 0.5 average score improvement, the prompt is likely near its ceiling for the current model and task set.\n- **Preserve what works.** When changing a prompt section, verify that previously passing tasks still pass.
