Correct, forgettable. The interesting ones live past number\nthree. Cognitive frames push one model out there; different model families\nstart from different priors and land somewhere else again. This skill uses\nboth axes at once and pays for one.\n\n`$SCRIPTS` is whatever the probe printed as `scripts-dir:`.\n\n**On any host other than Claude Code** the line above is plain text, nothing\nran. Your first step is then to run the probe yourself and read its output as\nif it were printed here: `<dir of this SKILL.md>/../../scripts/probe.sh` — the\nplugin's `scripts/probe.sh`, two directories above the *real* file (resolve\nsymlinks first: `realpath` of this SKILL.md, then `../../scripts/probe.sh`).\n\nIf the line above reads `Shell substitution failed` instead of probe output,\nthe session is in a git worktree whose shell gate refused the header; the\nplugin is fine. Run `\"${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../scripts/probe.sh\"` yourself,\nas one plain command with nothing but the path, and read `scripts-dir:` from\nthat.\n\n## Pre-flight\n\nIf the user typed `/multi:adhd` or asked for it by name, go. They opted in.\n\nOtherwise abort and answer directly unless all three hold: the question has\nseveral viable answers, the obvious answer being wrong is expensive, and the\nuser did not say \"quick\", \"just\", \"standard\", \"canonical\" or \"one-line\".\n\n## Phase 1 — diverge (no critic)\n\nPick 5 frames from the table. Bias to `code`/`design` tags for code-shaped\nproblems, always keep one `wild` for range. Vary the picks between runs so the\nsame problem gives a different pool the second time.\n\n**Hand each frame to a different backend, rotating.** With all three alive:\n\n| frame | backend |\n|---|---|\n| 1 | host sub-agent (the model running this skill) |\n| 2 | Codex |\n| 3 | OpenCode |\n| 4 | host sub-agent |\n| 5 | Codex |\n\nStart the external models **first** — they take 30–90 seconds and OpenCode\nspends most of a minute waking up. Launch the host-side frames while they run.\n\n```bash\nRUN=\"$($SCRIPTS/run-dir.sh --slug <two-to-four words: the project and the job, e.g. skills-fixing-multi>)\"\n\n$SCRIPTS/ask.sh --question-file \"$RUN/adhd-f2.md\" --out-prefix \"$RUN/adhd-f2\" \\\n                --backend codex --effort medium &\n$SCRIPTS/ask.sh --question-file \"$RUN/adhd-f3.md\" --out-prefix \"$RUN/adhd-f3\" \\\n                --backend opencode &\nwait\n```\n\nOn a host whose shell tool caps a call and kills the process group at the cap\n(OpenCode: two minutes by default), drop the `&` and the `wait`: add `--detach` to each\n`ask.sh` call (with `> \"$RUN/adhd-fN.log\" 2>&1`), return, and collect\nwith `$SCRIPTS/wait.sh --prefix \"$RUN/adhd-fN\" --max 100`, called again while\nit exits 1.\n\n`$RUN` is this session's own directory, so two sessions brainstorming at once\ndo not overwrite each other. Shell variables do not survive between commands —\nrepeat that first line in every later block that uses `$RUN`, including the\nframe files you write above.\n\nOne frame per file, one file per run. `--backend` exists precisely so the two\nCLIs can get **different** questions in parallel instead of the same one.\n\nEvery branch — agent or CLI — gets only the problem, the user's context, its\nown frame, and this instruction:\n\n> You are in DIVERGENT mode. You are a generator, not a critic.\n> Generate 6 short distinct ideas under this frame. Each idea is one phrase or\n> one sentence. Do not evaluate. Do not rank. Do not hedge. The first three\n> obvious answers everyone would give are banned. Push past them into the\n> awkward middle.\n> Output a JSON array only. No prose before or after.\n> `[{\"text\": \"...\", \"rationale\": \"...\"}, ...]`\n\nFor the CLIs add one line: **\"Do not read files or explore the repository\"**\nunless the problem is genuinely about this codebase. Otherwise OpenCode spends\nits run doing `ls` and `git status` before it starts thinking.\n\n**Isolation is the whole method.** No branch sees another branch's output. Do\nnot feed one frame's ideas into the next prompt, and do not write the branches\nout sequentially in your own context to save calls — that is one wider thought\nwearing five hats, not five branches.\n\n### When a backend is missing or dies\n\nThe probe says who is alive. A missing backend's frames go to host\nsub-agents, and the report says so in one line: *\"Codex not installed — frames\n2 and 5 ran as host agents.\"* A host with **no sub-agents at all** does not run\nframes inline — sequential frames in one context see each other's ideas, which\nis the one thing this method forbids. Give those frames to the external\nbackends instead (a second `ask.sh` call per frame, different backend each),\nor run fewer frames and say so. Never quietly re-label a host-model idea as\nCodex's. Read the one-line text in `${RUN}/...-codex.txt.dead` and\n`${RUN}/...-opencode.txt.dead` for `codex: ...` / `opencode: ...` reasons;\nthose files explain missing/failed backends. `codex: MISSING`, `opencode: NO OUTPUT`, `opencode: TIMEOUT`\nand an empty file are all \"did not run\" — check the file content, not just\nthat a file exists. Mention `/multi:setup` in the report when a backend is\nmissing — that's where they go to connect it.\n\n### Reading the CLI output\n\nCodex writes the answer clean. OpenCode writes a terminal transcript: ANSI\nescapes, a `> build · <model>` header, sometimes tool calls before the answer.\nRun both through the parser rather than eyeballing them:\n\n```bash\nRUN=\"$($SCRIPTS/run-dir.sh)\"\npython3 $SCRIPTS/parse-branch.py \"$RUN/adhd-f2-codex.txt\" \"$RUN/adhd-f3-opencode.txt\" \\\n  || python $SCRIPTS/parse-branch.py \"$RUN/adhd-f2-codex.txt\" \"$RUN/adhd-f3-opencode.txt\"\n```\n\nThe `|| python` is not superstition: on Windows the name `python3` resolves to\na Microsoft Store stub that prints \"Python was not found\" and exits 0, so the\nfirst command can look like it succeeded while doing nothing.\n\nIt strips the escapes, takes the last valid `[ ... ]` block, and prints\n`NO FILE` / `EMPTY` / `NO JSON ARRAY` for a branch that produced nothing. That\nbranch produced nothing — say so in the report, do not invent ideas for it.\n\n## Phase 2 — focus (critic on)\n\n1. **Score** every idea 0–10 on novelty (distance from the default), viability\n   (could it ship), fit (does it answer the stated problem). Flag traps —\n   attractive but a hidden cost, false economy, premature abstraction — with a\n   one-line reason.\n\n2. **Cluster** by underlying angle, not surface keywords. Label clusters by the\n   angle: \"remove the file entirely\" plays, \"catch the drift\" plays.\n\n3. **Deepen the top 3** by weighted score (novelty 0.35 + viability 0.40 +\n   fit 0.25), traps excluded. Send them to *different* backends — one Claude\n   agent, one Codex, one OpenCode — for the same reason Phase 1 splits:\n\n   > You are in FOCUS mode. Take one promising idea and connect dots. Sketch\n   > how it would actually work in 4 to 8 sentences. Name the load-bearing\n   > risk. Name the first concrete step a coder would take. Then generate 3 to\n   > 5 sub-ideas that branch off. Output JSON only.\n\n## Frames\n\nPick 5.\n\n| Frame | Vantage prompt | Tags |\n|---|---|---|\n| **3am on-call** | You are woken at 3am when this breaks. Exploit, corrupt or sabotage the obvious solution, then invert each attack into a design. | code, design |\n| **regulator** | You audit for compliance and failure modes. What must be provable, traceable, or refusable here? | design |\n| **logistics** | Steal mechanisms from logistics: queues, batching, just-in-time, hub-and-spoke, returns, last mile. | code, design |\n| **game design** | Loops, rewards, friction, save-states, speedrun tricks. The user is a player. | design |\n| **extreme: no budget, one hour** | No money, no team, one hour. The crudest version that still does the load-bearing thing. | code |\n| **biology** | Transplant a mechanism — immune memory, apoptosis, epigenetics, DNA repair, differentiation — and force-fit it. | wild |\n| **speedrunner** | Find glitches, skips, out-of-bounds tricks. What is the abusive-but-legal path? | code, wild |\n| **10-year-old** | You have never seen software. Describe naive but unencumbered approaches. Ignore convention. | wild |\n\n## Report\n\n1. **Brief** — one or two lines: the problem, any reframe used, and who ran.\n2. **Wide set** — the full pool grouped by cluster, each cluster labelled by\n   its angle. One short phrase per idea, with score chips `[N7 V8 F9]` and the\n   backend that produced it.\n3. **Converge** — a 2–4 idea shortlist with why each is on it. Mark the\n   non-obvious-but-viable pick with ★. Traps listed separately, one line each.\n4. **Focus** — the three deepened branches: sketch, load-bearing risk, first\n   concrete step, child ideas.\n5. **Provocation** — one wildcard that opens a direction nobody took.\n\nThen stop. Offer to push into one branch; do not start building any of them.\n\n## The confound, stated once\n\nFrames are split across models, so a difference between two ideas is a\ndifference of frame **and** of model at the same time. This is not a model\ncomparison and must not be reported as one — never write \"Codex thinks wider\nthan DeepSeek\" off this run. If the user actually wants families compared,\nthat is the same frame sent to every backend, and it costs three times as\nmuch: offer it, do not silently do it.\n\n## Anti-patterns\n\n- **Convergence dressed as divergence.** Ten variants of one idea is not\n  breadth. If every candidate shares an assumption, you decorated, not diverged.\n- **Weirdness with no convergence.** Thirty unsorted absurdities is as useless\n  as one safe answer. Always converge and take a position.\n- **Refusing to commit.** \"Here are 20 ideas, you decide\" is a cop-out.\n- **Faking a branch.** A backend that returned nothing produced nothing.
