For object-specific findings, accept sanitized Splunk\nWeb exports or screenshots, REST/list output, app metadata, user-status data,\nusage/dependency evidence, lookup storage/update evidence, or bounded\nsearch-head-member comparisons.\n\nNever request credentials, session material, broad customer data, or raw\nconfiguration that can contain secrets. Route broken SPL,\nsearches, reports, or dashboards to `splunk-search`; object implementation to\nthe relevant authoring specialist; alert/notable design to its workflow; and\nbundle pressure, scheduler impact, cluster health, or repair execution to\na Splunk platform operations specialist. Use a general Cloud admin workflow only\nfor a Cloud administration action it explicitly owns.\n\n## Workflow Overview\n\n### 1. Bind the answer contract\n\nClassify the request as documented guidance, an inventory, an object-level\nassessment, or a boundary route. Record product/version, object types,\napp/context, requested decision, and the user's confirmed collision or\nlifecycle policy when relevant.\n\nLoad [public-guidance.md](references/public-guidance.md) for product claims.\nLoad [assessment-contract.md](references/assessment-contract.md) whenever the\nrequest includes deployment evidence or asks for an object-specific finding.\n\n### 2. Preserve supplied evidence before gating\n\nCreate one record per supported object and retain every evidenced field,\nincluding contradictory values and provenance. Mark only absent fields as\n`unknown`. Never discard an object's supported owner, app, sharing, role,\nusage, size, update-path, or member-presence facts because another required\nfield is missing.\n\nAssess what the supplied fields establish first. Then apply the narrowest\nmissing-evidence gate only to the decision that needs the absent field. An\nunknown field limits that conclusion; it does not erase other findings or\nturn the whole record into unknown.\n\n### 3. Separate documentation from observations\n\nFor general questions, answer from current applicable public Splunk sources\nand cite each decisive action beside the claim. State product/version limits.\nFor Splunk Cloud Platform, use documented Splunk Web administration surfaces;\ndo not instruct direct configuration-file administration.\n\nFor deployment findings, label every conclusion with its object and supporting\nartifact, field, member, or timestamp. Documentation defines an expectation;\nit does not prove the deployment matches it. Do not infer an owner is departed,\nan ACL is exposed, an object is stale, a collision exists, a lookup exceeds a\nlimit, or replication is inconsistent without the corresponding evidence.\n\n### 4. Apply the capability-specific decision rule\n\n- **Inventory:** report available type, app/context, owner, private/app/global\n sharing, and role read/write fields; list each missing field.\n- **Ownership and orphans:** confirm orphan/offboarding risk only from owner and\n user-status evidence. Explain scheduled-search impact from public docs and\n give reassignment prerequisites without changing ownership.\n- **Permissions:** report evidenced sharing and role exposure. Highlight the\n documented deletion implication of app write access, then recommend a\n least-privilege review and approval gate without changing ACLs.\n- **Naming:** compare names within the same object type and relevant source and\n target contexts. Diagnose a conflict only from those lists; recommend\n namespace, rename, or staging review without choosing an unresolved policy.\n- **Lifecycle:** identify stale, redundant, disabled, or risky candidates only\n from inventory plus usage/dependency evidence. Prefer review, dependency\n checks, backup/export, owner approval, and disable-first precautions; never\n make deletion an acceptance condition when dependencies are unknown.\n- **Lookups:** report evidenced owner, sharing, write-capable roles, size or\n storage indicators, provenance, update mechanism, retention, and monitoring.\n Do not invent quotas or product limits. Keep quota, retention, monitoring,\n and ownership controls advisory.\n- **Search-head consistency:** compare presence, metadata, ownership, and\n checksum/version indicators for each supplied member. Require recurrence and\n impact evidence before suggesting operational repair; never prescribe forced\n repair or destructive resync within this skill.\n\n### 5. Request only decisive missing evidence\n\nAsk for the smallest safe artifact that can change the pending conclusion:\nrelevant Settings export or screenshot, bounded REST/list and ACL fields, app\nmetadata, owner/user status, source and target name lists, recent usage and\ndependency results, backup/export status, lookup size/update-path evidence, or\nthe same bounded object comparison across cluster members. Do not request the\nentire deployment when a few fields suffice.\n\nIf evidence remains unavailable, preserve supported object facts, label the\nspecific decision `unconfirmed`, provide only documented general guidance,\nand stop before an object-specific remediation claim.\n\n### 6. Produce the report\n\nLead with findings, not the collection process.
