Log exact redacted commands and results in\n`commands.md`; record revisions, configurations, tool versions, and hashes when\nthey affect reproducibility. Separate observations from inferences and edit\nsource only when requested.\n\nKeep QEMU builds under source-root `builds/build-<target>/`; put third-party\ndependencies and non-QEMU binaries in task `output/`. Before writing audit\nartifacts or configuring QEMU in a Git worktree, add `.agents/`,\n`.oh-my-qemu/`, and `builds/` to the repository-local file from\n`git rev-parse --git-path info/exclude`; preserve existing entries and avoid\nduplicates. Never stage or commit those directories. At handoff, verify them\nabsent from `git status --short`. Report the task directory and unresolved gaps.\n\n## Workflow\n\n1. Record host architecture/features/toolchain, IR semantics, constraints,\n   emitter path, unsupported cases, and allowed source paths.\n2. Inspect the checked-out backend and generic fallback before enabling an op.\n3. Work in small reviewable rounds and record changed paths, verification,\n   review result, and gaps in `audit.md`.\n4. Build for the affected host and run focused tests that exercise both native\n   and fallback behavior where applicable.\n5. Capture bounded host-code/TCG logs and keep unsupported features disabled\n   until constraints, emission, and evidence agree.\n\n## QEMU upstream boundary\n\nQEMU's official GitLab and mailing lists are upstream project channels. A\npatch becomes an upstream contribution when sent to the mailing-list recipients\nselected through `MAINTAINERS`; do not prepare or send agent-generated patches\nfor that submission. Local branches, commits, patch files, pushes, and pull\nrequests are not by themselves QEMU upstream contributions.
