Log exact redacted commands and results in\n`commands.md`; record revisions, configurations, tool versions, and hashes when\nthey affect reproducibility. Separate observations from inferences and edit\nsource only when requested.\n\nKeep QEMU builds under source-root `builds/build-<target>/`; put third-party\ndependencies and non-QEMU binaries in task `output/`. Before writing audit\nartifacts or configuring QEMU in a Git worktree, add `.agents/`,\n`.oh-my-qemu/`, and `builds/` to the repository-local file from\n`git rev-parse --git-path info/exclude`; preserve existing entries and avoid\nduplicates. Never stage or commit those directories. At handoff, verify them\nabsent from `git status --short`. Report the task directory and unresolved gaps.\n\n## Workflow\n\n1. Freeze the board contract, allowed paths, and observable acceptance checks.\n2. Inspect the current machine, nearby boards, tests, boot ABI, and authoritative\n   hardware sources before changing code.\n3. Work in small reviewable source-change rounds and record each round's paths,\n   verification, review result, and gaps in `audit.md`.\n4. Build the affected target and add or extend board qtests for machine\n   creation, memory-map probes, and representative IRQ/device wiring.\n5. Use boot or workload evidence only as a supplemental integration gate and\n   state exactly what it proves.\n\n## QEMU upstream boundary\n\nQEMU's official GitLab and mailing lists are upstream project channels. A\npatch becomes an upstream contribution when sent to the mailing-list recipients\nselected through `MAINTAINERS`; do not prepare or send agent-generated patches\nfor that submission. Local branches, commits, patch files, pushes, and pull\nrequests are not by themselves QEMU upstream contributions. Perform those Git\nactions only when requested and follow the workspace's Git policy.\n\n## Board contract\n\nA board model is topology and boot policy. A peripheral model is behavior.\n\nThe board should define:\n\n- CPU type/count and reset state;\n- RAM/ROM/MMIO/alias/unimplemented regions;\n- interrupt controller graph and source numbers;\n- clock/reset/bus wiring;\n- firmware, direct-kernel, initrd, DTB/FDT, or ACPI boot policy;\n- optional devices and user-visible machine properties.\n\nThe board should not emulate device register semantics.\n\nIf board work requires a new peripheral register bank, implement it in a\ndevice `.c` file. Record the framework decision by applying policy present in\nthe target QEMU workspace first, compatible explicit user direction second, and\na clear maintained nearby subsystem convention third, stopping at the first\ndecisive input. Select `RegisterInfo` or justified manual MMIO callbacks, and\ndefault to `RegisterInfo` when none decides. Keep register offsets, field\nmacros, backing storage, framework tables, and register-local callbacks out of\nboard files and headers.\n\n## Required plan facts\n\nRecord these before implementation:\n\n- compatibility target: board/SoC revision and intended firmware/SDK;\n- closest upstream QEMU reference board;\n- memory-map table with symbolic name, base, size, owner, IRQ, and type;\n- boot ABI: entry point, reset vector, FDT pointer, privilege mode, RAM base;\n- interrupt graph: CPU local interrupts, global controller contexts, cascades, MSI/PCI routing;\n- known unimplemented regions and why they are safe for the workload.\n\n## Realize order\n\nUse dependency order:\n\n1. machine/SoC state;\n2. CPUs/harts;\n3. root memory, RAM, ROM;\n4. interrupt controllers and timers;\n5. CPU interrupt inputs;\n6. always-present devices;\n7. MMIO maps and IRQ/clock/reset wiring;\n8. optional devices;\n9. firmware/kernel/initrd/DTB loading;\n10. reset vector and reset hooks.\n\n## Boot helper rule\n\nReuse architecture helpers before hand-rolling boot code. For example, RISC-V boards should prefer existing reset-vector and direct-kernel helpers unless the real hardware requires a custom ROM path. If firmware intentionally receives no FDT, model that intentionally instead of generating a fake one.\n\n## qtest verification requirement\n\nBoard-modeling work must be verified through focused qtests, not only through boot smoke. For every new board, SoC, memory-map change, reset-vector change, or IRQ topology change:\n\n- add a new `tests/qtest/<board-or-soc>-test.c` case, or extend the closest existing board qtest;\n- register it in `tests/qtest/meson.build` under the correct architecture bucket;\n- instantiate the machine with the minimal arguments required for the board;\n- probe key RAM/ROM/MMIO/unimplemented bases from the memory-map table;\n- verify reset-visible state when qtest can observe it;\n- test one representative interrupt/device wiring path when practical;\n- run the narrow Meson qtest name from the matching\n  `builds/build-<target>/` directory;\n- store the command, result, and log path under `.oh-my-qemu/<task-slug>/`.\n\nIf a board change cannot be covered by qtest, record the technical reason and replacement evidence in `audit.md`. A firmware boot log is supplemental evidence, not a substitute for qtest coverage.\n\nAlso build the target binary.
