This skill decides architecture; it does not implement.\n\nArguments received: `$ARGUMENTS`\n\n## Execution model\n\nRun **inline in the active coding-agent session**. The session that invoked\n`/architect` keeps ownership of the work and of everything that follows it.\n\n- Do not fork the context, launch another coding-agent process, open a tmux or\n  Herdr session, or hand the decision to a separate persistent identity.\n- Do not create an `architect` agent definition. The role is this skill; the\n  runtime is the session already reading it.\n- Use `/delegate` only for bounded, self-contained fan-out — parallel\n  independent source reads whose verbose output should stay out of this\n  context. Reconcile every delegated result here; the brief is written by this\n  session.\n\nRoles are behavior, skills encode behavior, and agents execute behavior. A\nsecond agent context is justified only when isolation or parallelism is itself\nthe thing being bought.\n\n## 1. Classify\n\nArchitecture review is selective, not ceremony. Treat the change as\n**ARCHITECTURAL** when it materially affects one or more of:\n\n- system or module boundaries;\n- the execution or ownership model;\n- persistent state or the data model;\n- a security or isolation boundary;\n- a public API or compatibility contract;\n- a lifecycle or state machine;\n- provider portability;\n- shared conceptual vocabulary;\n- cross-skill or control-plane behavior;\n- a new reusable abstraction;\n- the replacement or retirement of an existing abstraction;\n- a structural decision that is difficult or expensive to reverse.\n\nOtherwise the change is **NOT-ARCHITECTURAL**. Say so in two or three\nsentences, name the reason, route the work straight to `/spec plan`, and stop.\nDo not produce the full brief for a small local change.\n\n## 2. Ground the decision\n\nBefore reasoning, read real sources. Synthesized recall is advisory; current\nsource and accepted decision records are authority.\n\n1. Read every applicable `AGENTS.md` from the repository root down to the\n   directories the change touches. Local instructions win; in one directory\n   `AGENTS.md` is canonical.\n2. Read the RFC/ADR index at `docs/rfcs/README.md` and any listed proposal that\n   already constrains this decision. An accepted decision is a constraint until\n   a new proposal supersedes it.\n3. Query tracked repository knowledge when it is available:\n   `/wiki query <subsystem> --patterns` returns failure modes this harness has\n   already paid for. Cite the `[[pattern-...]]` slugs that changed the\n   recommendation.\n4. Inspect the authoritative code, tests, probes, and docs for the surfaces in\n   scope. Read them; do not infer their shape.\n5. Name the actual decision or decisions. A feature request restated is not a\n   decision.\n6. Label every claim as fact, constraint, assumption, or judgment. An\n   unverified assumption must say so.\n\n## 3. Decide\n\nFor each material decision, work through:\n\n- **Current state** — what exists now, cited by path.\n- **Drivers** — the outcome wanted and why now.\n- **Invariants** — what must survive the change untouched.\n- **Options** — including reuse, extend, retire, and do-nothing where those are\n  live. A single-option brief is not an analysis.\n- **Tradeoffs** — complexity, reversibility, portability, security,\n  operability, context cost, migration risk.\n- **Interaction** — how the option meets existing accepted decisions.\n- **Failure modes** — how it breaks, and how it rolls back.\n- **Retirement** — what this consolidates or deletes rather than adds beside.\n- **Falsification** — the evidence that would show the recommendation wrong.\n\nFavor the smallest architecture that satisfies the actual requirement. Do not\nadd an orchestration or process layer without evidence it improves outcomes.\nPrefer deleting an abstraction to growing a second one next to it.\n\n## 4. Record durable decisions\n\nDurable architecture decisions reuse the existing convention in\n[`docs/rfcs/README.md`](../../../docs/rfcs/README.md): a GitHub issue titled\n`ADR: <title>` (or `RFC: <title>`), moving through `Draft` → `Accepted` →\n`Superseded`, indexed on that page.\n\nDo not invent an architecture database, service, document taxonomy, decision\ndirectory, or per-skill decision store. Do not require a record for every\nchange — most decisions are captured well enough by the code and its probes.\nPropose a record only when the decision is architecturally significant and\nexpensive to rediscover.\n\n## 5. Output\n\nReturn exactly one compact brief.
