Rather than rewriting plans from scratch, it makes surgical, well-researched updates while preserving the plan's existing structure and quality standards.\n\n## Progress Tracking with Task Tools\n\n> **This skill uses Claude Code's native Task tools for progress tracking.**\n\nWhen iterating on plans, you must keep Tasks synchronized with plan changes:\n\n| Plan Change | Task Action |\n|-------------|-------------|\n| Add new phase | `TaskCreate` for new phase, update `addBlockedBy` dependencies |\n| Remove phase | `TaskUpdate` to mark removed (or delete if not started) |\n| Reorder phases | Update `addBlockedBy` relationships |\n| Rename phase | `TaskUpdate` to change subject |\n| Modify phase scope | `TaskUpdate` to change description |\n\n**Important**: The plan's `task_list_id` in metadata links to its Tasks. Always verify you're updating the correct task list.\n\n## Migrating Old Plans to Task Tools\n\n> **Use this process when a plan lacks `task_list_id` in its metadata.**\n\nOld plans used checkbox-based progress tracking (`[x]` / `[ ]`). The new system uses Task tools. (Tasks will be created, checkboxes preserved)\n```\n\n## Initial Input Handling\n\nParse the user's request to identify two required elements:\n\n1. **Plan file path** - The location of the existing implementation plan\n2. **Requested changes** - What modifications the user wants\n\nHandle these scenarios:\n\n| Scenario | Action |\n|----------|--------|\n| No plan provided | Ask: \"Which plan file should I update?\" |\n| Plan but no feedback | Ask: \"What changes would you like to make to this plan?\" |\n| Both provided | Proceed to Step 1 |\n\n## Six-Step Iteration Process\n\n### Step 1: Understand the Current Plan\n\nRead the complete plan file and thoroughly understand:\n- Overall structure and organization\n- Current technical approach and decisions\n- Success criteria (both automated and manual)\n- Dependencies and relationships between sections\n- Any existing constraints or trade-offs documented\n- **The `task_list_id` in plan metadata** (links to Task tools progress)\n\n**Check for old plan format:**\n```\nIF plan has no task_list_id in frontmatter:\n  → Plan needs migration (see \"Migrating Old Plans to Task Tools\")\n  → Present migration summary to user\n  → Perform migration before proceeding with iteration\n```\n\n**Check existing Tasks (for migrated/new plans):**\n```\nTaskList: View current tasks for this plan\n```\n\nNote which phases:\n- Are already completed (don't modify completed work without good reason)\n- Are in progress (coordinate changes carefully)\n- Are pending (safe to modify)\n- Are blocked (check what's blocking them)\n\nDocument the sections that will likely need modification based on the feedback.\n\n### Step 2: Research If Needed\n\n**Critical**: Only spawn research tasks if the changes require new technical understanding.\n\nWhen research is necessary, use specialized sub-agents with highly specific instructions:\n\n```\nResearch Task Template:\n- Agent type: codebase-locator | codebase-analyzer | Explore\n- Specific directories to examine\n- Exact patterns or code to find\n- Required output format (file:line references)\n```\n\nResearch scenarios that warrant sub-agent spawning:\n- Changes involve unfamiliar parts of the codebase\n- New integrations or dependencies need validation\n- Technical feasibility of proposed changes is uncertain\n- Alternative approaches need evaluation\n\n**Do NOT research when**:\n- Changes are cosmetic or structural (reordering, rewording)\n- The modification is already well-understood\n- Feedback is about plan formatting, not technical content\n\n### Step 3: Present Understanding Before Changes\n\nBefore making any modifications, present:\n\n1. **Interpretation of Feedback**\n   - Restate what changes are being requested\n   - Confirm understanding of the user's intent\n\n2. **Research Findings** (if research was performed)\n   - Key discoveries with file:line references\n   - Technical implications for the plan\n\n3. **Planned Modifications**\n   - List specific sections that will change\n   - Describe the nature of each change\n   - Note any sections that will remain unchanged\n\nWait for user confirmation before proceeding to Step 4.\n\n### Step 4: Make Surgical Edits\n\nUpdate the plan using Edit tool with these principles:\n\n**Structural Integrity**\n- Maintain existing heading hierarchy\n- Preserve section organization patterns\n- Keep consistent formatting throughout\n\n**Content Quality**\n- Ensure changes align with surrounding context\n- Update all related sections (e.g., if changing approach, update affected tasks)\n- Maintain traceability between requirements and implementation tasks\n\n**Success Criteria Standards**\n- **Automated Verification**: Commands that can be run (tests, lints, builds)\n- **Manual Verification**: Human-observable behaviors requiring testing\n- Never mix these categories;
