Single-session reports help the\nlearner reflect on what was covered, what they demonstrated, where they need\nmore practice, and what evidence supports those conclusions. Aggregate reports\nsummarize patterns across multiple session reports for instructor review,\nincluding recurring misconceptions, topic coverage, activity metrics, revision\nbehavior, and unresolved growth areas. Instructor dashboard artifacts present\nthe same evidence as a compact HTML dashboard with in-page drilldown panels for\nkey metrics.\n\nUse this skill with:\n\n- `matlab-tutor-learners`\n- `matlab-coach-programming`\n- `matlab-create-hands-on-exercises`\n- `matlab-create-mcq-practice`\n- `matlab-coach-debugging`\n- `matlab-log-tutor-sessions`\n- `matlab-evaluate-tutor-quality`\n\n## Reporting Principles\n\n- Base the report only on evidence from the current session or provided\n  transcript.\n- Do not infer grades, exam readiness, or personal traits beyond the evidence.\n- Separate observed performance from recommendations.\n- Use supportive, factual language that helps the learner plan next steps.\n- If a metric is unavailable, write \"Not observed\" or \"Not enough data\" rather\n  than estimating.\n- Keep instructor-shareable notes professional and concise.\n- Do not include sensitive personal information unless the learner explicitly\n  asks to include it.\n- Produce an HTML file by default, not Markdown, unless the user explicitly asks\n  for another format.\n\n## Mode Selection\n\n- Use **single-session mode** when the user asks for a report of the current\n  session, a provided transcript, or one tutoring interaction.\n- Use **aggregate mode** when the user asks for multiple sessions, session\n  analytics, progress over time, report aggregation, a date range, or an\n  instructor overview across reports.\n- Use **dashboard mode** when the user asks for an instructor dashboard,\n  dashboard artifact, metric dashboard, drilldown view, or compact overview of\n  key metrics across session reports.\n- Use **quality dashboard mode** when the dashboard is based on transcript\n  reviews or tutor quality reports rather than learner session reports. Include\n  MATLAB accuracy, active learning, assignment guardrails, feedback quality,\n  debugging support, and transfer prompt metrics.\n\n## Single-Session Report Workflow\n\n1. Identify the session context: topic, course context if given, practice mode,\n   and learner goal.\n2. Extract topics covered and the evidence for each topic.\n3. Summarize learner strengths by topic.\n4. Summarize growth areas by topic.\n5. Compute activity metrics from observed MCQs, hands-on exercises, and\n   debugging tasks.\n6. Summarize important MATLAB evidence: script results, Code Analyzer feedback,\n   test outcomes, error messages, or output mismatches.\n7. Recommend 2-4 next practice actions.\n8. Include an instructor-shareable summary if requested or useful.\n9. Save the report as an `.html` file using the required filename pattern.\n\nRead [references/report-template.md](references/report-template.md) for the\ncomplete single-session and aggregate report formats, metric definitions, and\ndate-range rules.\n\nThis demo includes an example report at\n`assets/examples/session-report-example.html`, relative to the demo folder that\ncontains `skills/` (not relative to this skill folder). Use it as a\nvisual and structural example when creating reports, but replace its fictional\nsession content with evidence from the current session.\nWhen that file is not available (for example when only `skills/` was\ninstalled), follow the template in `references/report-template.md` alone.\n\n## File Naming\n\nAutoname each report:\n\n```text\nmatlab-ai-tutor-session-YYYY-MM-DD-HHMMSS.html\n```\n\nUse the local session start datetime when available (not the report-generation\ntime). Accept common datetime formats such as\n`YYYY-MM-DD`, `YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM`, and `YYYY-MM-DD HHMMSS`.\n\nIf no arguments are provided, use all available MATLAB AI Tutor session reports\nin the current working directory for this tutoring session. Match files named\nlike `matlab-ai-tutor-session-YYYY-MM-DD-HHMMSS.html` and exclude aggregate\nreports unless the user explicitly asks to include them.\n\n## Aggregate Report Workflow\n\n1. Find candidate single-session HTML reports in the current working directory.\n2. Parse each report datetime from the filename first, then from the report\n   header if needed.\n3. Filter reports by `start_datetime` and `end_datetime` when provided.\n4. Extract visible metrics and evidence from the included reports. Do not invent\n   missing values.\n5. Aggregate topic coverage, MCQ results, hands-on script results, debugging\n   tasks, revision behavior, and unresolved growth areas.\n6. Identify recurring misconceptions and repeated strengths only when supported\n   by more than one report or by explicit repeated evidence.\n7. Include a table of included reports with dates, focus, and evidence basis.\n8. Save a standalone HTML aggregate report using the aggregate filename pattern.\n\n## Dashboard Artifact Workflow\n\n1. Use the same report discovery, datetime parsing, and date-range filtering as\n   aggregate mode.\n2. Build one standalone HTML file. Do not require separate CSV files unless the\n   user explicitly asks for export files or an implementation uses CSV as a\n   temporary intermediate.\n3. Show dashboard cards for key metrics. For learner session dashboards, include\n   MCQ accuracy by topic, hands-on script pass rate, common debugging patterns,\n   Code Analyzer issues, and unresolved topics needing instructor follow-up. For\n   tutor quality dashboards, include MATLAB accuracy, active learning,\n   assignment guardrails, feedback quality, debugging support, and transfer\n   prompts.\n4. Add drilldown controls for each key metric. Each control should open an\n   in-page panel, modal, or expandable section with the supporting sessions,\n   evidence snippets, affected topics, and recommended instructor action.\n5. Include an \"Included Reports\" section and an \"Evidence Limits\" section so the\n   instructor can see exactly what was and was not counted.\n6. Save the dashboard using the dashboard filename pattern.\n\n## Metrics to Track\n\nTrack only metrics visible in the session:\n\n- **MCQs**: attempted, correct, incorrect, skipped, accuracy, most common\n  misconception.\n- **Hands-on exercises**: attempted, completed, passed on first run, passed\n  after revision, unresolved, MATLAB execution result, Code Analyzer issues.\n- **Debugging tasks**: errors investigated, root causes identified, repairs\n  verified, minimal reproductions created.\n- **Engagement evidence**: predictions made, explanations given, tests designed,\n  revisions attempted, transfer tasks completed.\n\n## Topic-Level Strengths and Growth Areas\n\nFor each major topic, include:\n\n- **Topic**: MATLAB concept or workflow.\n- **Evidence**: learner answer, code behavior, execution result, or feedback\n  moment.\n- **Strength**: what the learner demonstrated.\n- **Growth area**: what still needs practice.\n- **Recommended next step**: one focused action.\n\nAvoid generic comments such as \"needs more practice\" without naming the MATLAB\nbehavior to practice.\n\n## Instructor-Shareable Notes\n\nWhen creating an instructor-shareable section:\n\n- Keep it factual and evidence-based.\n- Avoid overly personal phrasing.\n- Include enough detail to support instructional follow-up.\n- Make clear whether the report is based on a complete session transcript or\n  only the visible conversation.\n\nUse this framing:\n\n```text\nThis report summarizes the observed tutoring session.
