Common choices:\n   - `quay.io/fedora/fedora:latest`\n   - `registry.redhat.io/ansible-automation-platform/ee-minimal-rhel9:latest`\n   - `registry.redhat.io/ansible-automation-platform/ee-supported-rhel9:latest`\n4. **ansible-core version** — pip version spec (default: `ansible-core`)\n5. **Python packages** — additional Python dependencies (list)\n6. **System packages** — additional system/RPM dependencies (list)\n7. **Galaxy collections** — Ansible collections to include (list of\n   `namespace.name` entries)\n8. **Galaxy roles** — Ansible roles to include (optional list)\n9. **Additional build steps** — any extra Dockerfile/Containerfile steps\n   (optional)\n10. **Container tags** — tags for the built image (default: `<ee_name>`)\n\n## Optional: Collection dependency validation\n\nIf the `ensure_collection` MCP tool is available in your tool list\n(provided by the `ansible-know` MCP server) AND the user specified\nGalaxy collections in step 7 above, perform the following validation\nstep. If this tool is not available, skip this section entirely.\n\n### Step 1 — Validate collections on Galaxy\n\nFor each collection the user listed, call\n`ensure_collection(collection_namespace=<namespace.name>)`.\n\n- **Success** — the collection exists. Extract the `version` field from\n  the response (this is the latest version installed from Galaxy).\n  Offer to pin it as a minimum version (e.g., `>=2.2.0`).\n- **Error** (response contains `error` field) — the collection was not\n  found on Galaxy. Warn the user and ask whether to remove it from the\n  list or proceed anyway (it may be available from a private Automation\n  Hub or SCM source).\n\n### Step 2 — Present validation summary\n\nShow a summary table of the validation results:\n\n| Collection | Status | Version | Pinned |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| `ansible.posix` | Installed | 2.2.0 | `>=2.2.0` |\n| `ansible.netcommon` | Installed | 7.1.0 | `>=7.1.0` |\n| `typo.missing` | **Not found** | — | — |\n\nUpdate the user's collection list with validated names and version\npins before proceeding to the scaffolding strategy.\n\n## Dependency introspection\n\nBefore scaffolding, check if the current project contains existing Ansible\ncontent that can inform the EE dependencies:\n\n- **Collections** — scan for `galaxy.yml` or `collections/requirements.yml`\n  in the project. If found, extract collection names and offer to include\n  them automatically.\n- **Roles** — scan for `roles/*/meta/main.yml` to find role dependencies\n  and collections they reference.\n- **Python dependencies** — scan collection and role `requirements.txt`\n  files, or `setup.cfg`/`pyproject.toml` for Python dependencies used by\n  custom modules or plugins.\n- **System dependencies** — scan for `bindep.txt` files in collections or\n  roles.\n\nPresent the discovered dependencies to the user and ask which to include.\n\n## Scaffolding strategy\n\n1. Build the `ansible-creator init execution_env` command using CLI\n   flags to pre-populate the EE definition:\n\n   ```\n   ansible-creator init execution_env <path> \\\n     --ee-name <ee_name> \\\n     --ee-base-image <base_image> \\\n     --ee-collections <collection1> \\\n     --ee-collections \"<collection2:>=version>\" \\\n     --ee-python-deps <pkg1> \\\n     --ee-python-deps <pkg2> \\\n     --ee-system-packages <pkg1> \\\n     --scm-provider <github|gitlab>\n   ```\n\n   Flag details:\n   - `--ee-name` — from Gather inputs step 1\n   - `--ee-base-image` — from step 3\n   - `--ee-collections` — repeatable, one per collection. Use the\n     `name:version` format for version-pinned collections\n     (e.g., `--ee-collections \"ansible.posix:>=2.2.0\"`). Collections\n     without version pins use just the name\n     (e.g., `--ee-collections ansible.posix`)\n   - `--ee-python-deps` — repeatable, one per Python package from\n     step 5 and any discovered via dependency introspection\n   - `--ee-system-packages` — repeatable, one per system package from\n     step 6 and any discovered via dependency introspection\n   - `--scm-provider` — `github` or `gitlab` based on CI/CD choice\n\n   If `--ee-collections` or other flags are not recognized\n   (ansible-creator < 26.6.1), fall back to the base command\n   `ansible-creator init execution_env <path>` without flags and\n   customize `execution-environment.yml` manually after generation.\n\n   If `ansible-creator` is not installed at all, fall back to creating\n   the directory structure manually and inform the user they can install\n   it with `pip install ansible-creator` or use the `ansible-dev-tools`\n   devcontainer for future use.\n\n2. Customize `execution-environment.yml` if the CLI flags did not\n   fully populate it (older ansible-creator or manual fallback).\n   When CLI flags were used, verify the generated file matches\n   user inputs and adjust only if needed.\n3. Generate external dependency files (see below).\n4. Update README.md with build and usage instructions.\n5. Generate CI/CD pipeline if requested.\n\n## External dependency files\n\nFor anything beyond trivial EEs, generate external dependency files instead\nof inlining everything in `execution-environment.yml`. This is the\nrecommended pattern for maintainability.\n\n### `requirements.yml`\nGalaxy collections and roles:\n\n```yaml\n---\ncollections:\n  - name: ansible.netcommon\n    version: \">=5.0.0\"\n  # <user collections with optional version pins>\nroles: []\n  # <user roles>\n```\n\n### `requirements.txt`\nPython package dependencies:\n\n```\n# Python dependencies for the execution environment\n# <user python packages, one per line>\n```\n\n### `bindep.txt`\nSystem package dependencies in bindep format:\n\n```\n# System dependencies for the execution environment\nopenssh-clients [platform:centos-8 platform:rhel-8 platform:rhel-9]\nsshpass [platform:centos-8 platform:rhel-8 platform:rhel-9]\n# <user system packages with platform selectors>\n```\n\nIf the user has few dependencies, inlining is acceptable. If there are more\nthan 3 items in any category, use external files.\n\n## Customization of `execution-environment.yml`\n\nReplace the sample content with user-specified values. Reference external\ndependency files when generated:\n\n```yaml\n---\nversion: 3\n\nimages:\n  base_image:\n    name: <base_image>\n\ndependencies:\n  python_interpreter:\n    package_system: python3\n    python_path: /usr/bin/python3\n\n  ansible_core:\n    package_pip: <ansible_core_version>\n\n  ansible_runner:\n    package_pip: ansible-runner\n\n  system: bindep.txt\n\n  python: requirements.txt\n\n  galaxy: requirements.yml\n\nadditional_build_steps:\n  append_base:\n    - RUN $PYCMD -m pip install -U pip\n    # <user additional steps>\n\noptions:\n  tags:\n    - <ee_name>\n```\n\nWhen using inline dependencies (small EEs), use the original inline format\ninstead of file references.\n\n## README.md content\n\nGenerate a README with:\n- EE name and purpose\n- Prerequisites (`ansible-builder` installation)\n- Build instructions:\n  ```\n  ansible-builder build -t <ee_name> -f execution-environment.yml\n  ```\n- Usage instructions (with `ansible-navigator`, `ansible-runner`, and\n  AAP/Controller)\n- Included dependencies table (collections, Python packages, system packages)\n- How to customize and extend\n- CI/CD pipeline description (if GitHub Actions workflow is present)\n\n## CI/CD pipeline\n\nIf the user requested a CI/CD pipeline (ask during input gathering if not\nspecified), generate a pipeline to build and push the EE image.\n\n**GitHub Actions** (`.github/workflows/ee-build.yml`):\n- Build job: `ansible-builder build -t <ee_name> -f execution-environment.yml`\n- Test job: run `ansible-navigator` with the built image to verify it works\n- Push job (on tag or main branch): push to the configured registry\n  using `podman push` or `docker push`\n- Support for multiple registries (quay.io, ghcr.io,\n  registry.redhat.io, custom)\n- Use secrets for registry credentials: `REGISTRY_USERNAME`,\n  `REGISTRY_PASSWORD`\n\n**GitLab CI** (`.gitlab-ci.yml`):\n- Same stages adapted to GitLab CI syntax with `$CI_REGISTRY` variables\n\nOnly generate the pipeline for the platform the user chose. Include\ncomments explaining required secrets and manual setup steps.\n\n## Post-creation validation\n\nAfter creating all files, verify:\n- `execution-environment.yml` is valid YAML with version 3 schema\n- All collection names use `namespace.name` format\n- Base image reference is valid\n- YAML uses 2-space indent and `true`/`false` booleans\n- No sample/placeholder dependencies remain unless the user wanted them\n- External dependency files (if generated) are referenced correctly in\n  `execution-environment.yml`\n- `bindep.txt` uses valid platform selectors\n- README includes working build command\n- CI pipeline references correct image name and registry\n\n## Output\n\nReport what was created:\n- EE project path\n- List of generated files (grouped: EE config, dependency files, CI, docs)\n- The build command to run\n- Any auto-detected dependencies that were included\n- Any manual steps (e.g., authenticating to registries, configuring CI\n  secrets, verifying bindep platform selectors)\n\n## Loading reference rules\n\nLoad CoP reference rules using this priority:\n\n1. **Bundled references** — Read from this plugin's `references/*.adoc` files\n   (`coding_style.adoc`).\n2. **Fetch from GitHub** (if bundled files are missing) — Fetch from:\n   `https://raw.githubusercontent.com/redhat-cop/automation-good-practices/main/coding_style/README.adoc`\n3. **CLAUDE.md only** (if GitHub is unreachable) — Use only the Ansible rules\n   from CLAUDE.md. Warn: \"Scaffolding may miss some best practices.\"\n4. **Stop** (if no rules at all) — Report inability to scaffold and stop.\n\nCLAUDE.md rules take precedence when present.
