For each\n role, follow the full ansible-new-role skill process (interactive\n variable builder, task componentization, smart handlers, etc.)\n8. **Repository URL** — source repository URL (optional)\n9. **Plugins** — does the collection need custom plugins? (optional)\n - **Modules** — custom modules to manage specific resources\n - **Filters** — custom Jinja2 filters\n - **Lookup plugins** — custom lookup plugins\n - **Action plugins** — custom action plugins\n For each requested plugin, ask for a name and brief description.\n10. **CI/CD platform** — which CI platform to generate a pipeline for\n (optional). Supported: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI. Default: GitHub\n Actions.\n\n## Optional: Collection discovery\n\nIf the `search_collections` MCP tool is available in your tool list\n(provided by the `ansible-know` MCP server), perform the following\ndiscovery step after gathering the namespace, collection name, and\ndescription. If this tool is not available, skip this section entirely.\n\n### Step 1 — Search Galaxy\n\nCall `search_collections(query=)` using the\ndescription the user provided in \"Gather inputs\" item 4.\n\nPresent results to the user in a summary table:\n\n| Collection | Description | Modules | Downloads |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| `namespace.name` | short description | N | N |\n\nLimit to the top 5 results by download count. If no results are\nreturned, state \"No similar collections found on Galaxy\" and proceed\ndirectly to the Scaffolding strategy — skip steps 2 and 3.\n\n### Step 2 — User decision\n\nAsk the user to choose:\n- **Proceed** — continue scaffolding their new collection\n- **Inspect a reference** — pick one of the found collections to learn\n from its structure before proceeding\n- **Stop** — an existing collection already covers their needs\n\nIf the user chooses **Stop**, end the skill with: \"No collection\nscaffolded. Consider using `ansible-galaxy collection install\n` to install the existing collection.\"\n\n### Step 3 — Inspect reference collection (if requested)\n\nIf the user picks a reference collection:\n\n1. Call `ensure_collection(collection_namespace=)` to install\n it for this session\n2. Call `get_collection_manifest(collection_namespace=)` to\n get its structure\n3. Display a structural summary:\n - Total modules, roles, and plugin types\n - Module naming patterns (e.g., all modules prefixed with `net_`)\n - Role names and their brief descriptions\n4. State: \"You can use this as inspiration for your own collection's\n structure. Continuing with your scaffold inputs.\"\n\nDo NOT auto-populate scaffold inputs from the reference. The user\ndecides what to borrow.\n\n## Scaffolding strategy\n\n1. Build the `ansible-creator init collection` command:\n - Base: `ansible-creator init collection . `\n - If the user specified their own initial roles (item 7), add\n `--exclude role` to skip the sample `run` role that would need\n to be deleted\n - If `--exclude` is not recognized (older ansible-creator versions\n before v26.6.1), fall back to the base command without flags and\n rely on the \"Cleanup sample/placeholder content\" section below to\n remove unwanted files manually\n\n Available `--exclude` bundles (ansible-creator >= 26.6.1):\n `ai` (AGENTS.md), `devcontainer` (.devcontainer/),\n `devfile` (devfile.yaml), `gitignore` (.gitignore),\n `role` (roles/run/ sample role), `vscode` (.vscode/)\n\n Note: sample plugins (`sample_action.py`, `sample_filter.py`,\n `sample_lookup.py`, `sample_module.py`, `sample_test.py`) are NOT\n controlled by bundles and always require manual cleanup.\n\n If `ansible-creator` is not installed, fall back to creating the\n directory structure manually and inform the user they can install it\n with `pip install ansible-creator` or use the `ansible-dev-tools`\n devcontainer for future use.\n2. This\nincludes the interactive variable builder, task componentization, smart\nhandler generation, argument_specs, platform support patterns, and all CoP\ncompliance rules.
