Override with `--ref <tag-or-sha>` in\n   `$ARGUMENTS`.\n3. **CLAUDE.md only** (if GitHub is unreachable) — Use only the Ansible rules\n   from CLAUDE.md (global or project). Warn the user: \"Review may be less\n   thorough — using condensed rules only.\"\n4. **Stop** (if no rules available at all) — Report inability to review and\n   stop.\n\nCLAUDE.md Ansible rules, when present, always take precedence over AsciiDoc\nfor rule application and verdicts. When more than one group matches, also load\n`structures` (~1,500 tokens) for architectural framing.\n\n### Token optimization\n\nFull reference files total ~39,700 tokens. To stay efficient, read each\nAsciiDoc section in two passes:\n\n1. **Rules pass** (always) — Read `==` headings and `Explanations::` blocks.\n   These contain the actionable rules to check against. Skip `Rationale::`\n   and `Examples::` blocks on this pass. This typically cuts token usage by\n   50-60%.\n2. **Detail pass** (on demand) — When a finding is ambiguous or you need to\n   verify correct/incorrect usage, go back and read the `Examples::` block\n   for that specific guideline. Consult `Rationale::` only for edge cases\n   where the rule's applicability is genuinely unclear.\n\nFor small reviews (single role, few files), reading full sections is fine.\nFor large reviews (3+ roles, 30+ files), use the two-pass approach to\navoid hitting context limits.\n\n## AsciiDoc parsing notes\n\nThe reference files use AsciiDoc format. Parse elements in this priority:\n\n1. `==` headings — individual guidelines (the rule statements to check against)\n2. `Explanations::` — actionable rule content (the \"what to do\") — **always read**\n3. `Examples::` — code samples showing correct/incorrect usage — **read on demand**\n4. `Rationale::` — background context — **skip unless investigating edge cases**\n5. `NOTE:`, `TIP:`, `CAUTION:`, `WARNING:`, `IMPORTANT:` — admonitions worth reading\n\nIgnore these structural elements:\n- `[%collapsible]`, `====` delimiters — collapsible block markers\n- `include::`, `image::` directives — external references, not inline content\n- `[source,yaml]` + `----` blocks — treat as fenced code blocks\n\n## Review process\n\n1. **Determine review mode** — Check what the user requested:\n   - **Full review** (default) — review all Ansible files in the project.\n   - **Path/file review** — review only the files or path the user specified.\n   - **Diff-aware review** — if the user asks to review \"changed files\",\n     \"my changes\", or similar, run `git diff --name-only` (and\n     `git diff --cached --name-only` for staged changes) to get the list of\n     modified files. Only review those files. Mention which base you are\n     diffing against (e.g., `HEAD`, `main`).\n   - **Category filter** — if the user asks to check only specific rule\n     categories (e.g., \"just check naming\", \"skip documentation\"), apply\n     only those categories. List which categories are being checked and\n     which are skipped at the start of the report.\n\n2. **Discover scope** — Based on the review mode, identify files to review.\n   For full reviews, scan for all `*.yml`/`*.yaml` files, `templates/`,\n   `defaults/`, `vars/`, `meta/`, `tasks/`, `handlers/`, `inventory/`, and\n   `README.md` files in the working directory tree.\n\n3. **Run ansible-lint** — If `ansible-lint` is available on the system, run\n   it against the discovered files and capture its output. Cross-reference\n   ansible-lint findings with CoP rules in the report — map each\n   ansible-lint rule ID to the corresponding CoP category where applicable.\n   If `ansible-lint` is not available, note this and proceed with the\n   manual review only.\n\n4. **Parallel review for large projects** — If the project contains multiple\n   roles or a large number of files (more than 3 roles or 30+ files), use\n   the Agent tool with subagents to review roles/components in parallel.\n   Each subagent reviews one role or logical group of files against all\n   applicable rule categories. Merge subagent results into a single report.\n\n5. **Check every applicable rule category** against the discovered files:\n\n   - **Architecture** — Landscape / Type / Function / Component hierarchy\n   - **Role naming** — role-prefixed variables, `__` internal prefix, no\n     dashes, no special chars, tag prefixes\n   - **Variable placement** — defaults vs vars, commented-out dangerous\n     defaults, no user-facing vars in `vars/main.yml`\n   - **Idempotency & check mode** — `changed_when:` on command/shell,\n     idempotent module usage, re-run safety\n   - **Argument validation** — `meta/argument_specs.yml` existence and\n     completeness\n   - **File references** — `{{ role_path }}` usage, no relative paths\n   - **Templates** — `{{ ansible_managed | comment }}` header, `backup: true`,\n     no timestamps\n   - **Platform support** — `include_vars` loop pattern, `first_found`\n     pattern, `ansible_facts['...']` bracket notation\n   - **Fact gathering** — minimum subset, graceful handling of\n     `gather_facts: false`\n   - **Playbook structure** — no mixed `roles:` + `tasks:`, tag safety,\n     `verbosity:` on debug tasks\n   - **Inventory** — structured directories, no vars in hosts file, no manual\n     host loops\n   - **YAML style** — 2-space indent, `true`/`false` booleans, line length\n     under 120, folded scalars\n   - **Naming** — `snake_case` everywhere, imperative task names, sub-task\n     prefixes\n   - **Module usage** — FQCN, `loop:` over `with_*`, import/include patterns\n   - **Collections** — semantic versioning, README, LICENSE\n   - **Providers** — `$ROLENAME_provider` pattern, auto-detection\n   - **Documentation** — README.md with examples, variable specs, idempotency\n     designation, rollback info\n   - **AAP Configuration as Code** — declarative Git-managed AAP objects,\n     `infra.aap_configuration` usage, environment separation, CaC repo\n     structure\n   - **CI/CD & promotion** — pre-commit hooks, linting in CI, environment\n     promotion workflows, artifact versioning, pipeline stages\n   - **Git workflow** — trunk-based development, branch naming, commit\n     messages, tagging strategy, release management\n   - **Naming conventions** — repository naming, AAP resource naming, file\n     naming, consistent separator usage, `.yml` extension\n   - **Security** — no secrets in Git, `ansible-vault` usage, least-privilege\n     credentials, secret scanning, secure variable handling\n   - **Testing** — shift-left testing, Molecule usage, lint validation,\n     integration tests, test coverage expectations\n\n## Severity levels\n\nClassify every finding with one of these severity levels:\n\n- **ERROR** — Must fix. Violates a MUST/NEVER/ALWAYS rule from CLAUDE.md.\n  Examples: missing `changed_when:` on `command:` tasks, user-facing\n  defaults in `vars/main.yml`, non-FQCN module names, `yes`/`no` booleans.\n- **WARNING** — Should fix. Violates a best practice or SHOULD-level\n  recommendation. Examples: missing `backup: true` on template tasks,\n  missing README sections, no platform-specific variable loading.\n- **INFO** — Suggestion. Opportunity to improve but not a rule violation.\n  Examples: task could use a more descriptive name, variable could be\n  documented better, a role could benefit from the provider pattern.\n\n## Report format\n\n6. **Report findings** — Group findings by file, then by severity. For each\n   violation:\n   - Severity level: `[ERROR]`, `[WARNING]`, or `[INFO]`\n   - The rule being violated (quote the rule text briefly)\n   - File path and line number\n   - The offending code snippet\n   - The corrected code\n   - If from ansible-lint: include the ansible-lint rule ID\n\n7. **Summary table** — End with a markdown table:\n\n   | Rule Category | Status | Severity | Files Affected | Count |\n   |---|---|---|---|---|\n   | Role naming | PASS/FAIL | ERROR/WARNING/INFO | file1, file2 | N |\n   | ... | ... | ... | ... | ... |\n\n   Include totals row: total ERRORs, WARNINGs, and INFOs.\n\n8. **Overall verdict** — State whether the code is compliant or not, and list\n   the top 3 highest-priority fixes (always prioritize ERRORs first).\n\n## Auto-fix\n\n9. **Offer to fix** — After presenting the report, ask the user:\n   \"Would you like me to automatically fix these violations?\"\n   - If yes, apply fixes grouped by file, starting with ERRORs, then\n     WARNINGs.
