Supports parallel/multi-agent generation and updates session JSON/HTML with saved asset paths.\"\n---\n\n# Storyboard Line-Art Generator\n\nUse this sub-skill when the user only wants line-art generation from an existing approved storyboard session, or when the main pipeline delegates the line-art stage.\n\nThis sub-skill can run independently from a `session.json`.\n\n## Runtime Root\n\nResolve `STORYBOARD_DIRECTOR_ROOT` before running commands:\n\n- installed bundle: `${CODEX_HOME:-$HOME/.codex}/skills/storyboard-director`\n- source checkout: the nearest ancestor containing both the main `SKILL.md` and `scripts/`\n\nUse absolute script paths. Do not assume the current workspace contains the skill source folder.\n\n## Session Resolution\n\nUse the explicit session path when provided. Without one, inspect configured `sessions/` and `examples/` and proceed only when exactly one session matches the request. If several sessions could match, ask for the exact path; never choose the newest session by guesswork.\n\n## Scope\n\nDo:\n\n- read the approved `session.json`\n- confirm `aspect_ratio` exists; route a missing ratio back to script planning instead of mutating approved inputs\n- confirm `text_review.script_logic_check` and `text_review.line_art_prompt_preflight` have no blocking issues\n- create a worker queue before image generation\n- generate one real raster line-art image per shot\n- save or register each result under the session `assets/` folder\n- update only `line_art.gallery` and compact status fields\n- render `session.html`\n- run smoke validation\n\nDo not:\n\n- rewrite the script\n- rewrite production anchors unless generation is blocked by a concrete prompt error\n- generate final colored frames\n- generate aggregate video prompts\n- upload generated line art back to AI for visual critique\n- ask for API keys or switch to CLI/API image fallback\n\n## Multi-Agent Rule\n\nIf there are 2 or more independent shots, build a worker queue before the first image call.\n\nWorker input should be short:\n\n- `session_path`\n- `assets_dir`\n- `project_mode`\n- `aspect_ratio`\n- compact `production_reference`\n- `shot_id`\n- line-art prompt\n- needed character/scene reference paths\n- target output filename\n\nWorker output must be path-based:\n\n- `shot_id`\n- `asset_type: line-art`\n- `status`\n- `output_path`\n- optional `retry_prompt`\n- short note\n\nOnly the orchestrator edits `session.json` and renders HTML.\n\nCreate the full queue before any image call. Default to four concurrent line-art workers. If delegation is unavailable, record `serial_unavailable` and execute the same queue in Shot order.\n\nParallel workers must return explicit local source paths. Do not use one shared `capture_generated_asset.py` marker across concurrent jobs.\n\n## Line-Art Rules\n\nLine art is a contour and structure map:\n\n- sparse outer contours\n- key silhouette lines\n- major object boundaries\n- horizon, vanishing, or perspective guide lines only when useful\n- white or off-white background\n- thin clean lines\n\nAvoid:\n\n- shadows\n- gray fills\n- hatching\n- cross-hatching\n- stippling\n- texture\n- material rendering\n- lighting effects\n- decorative detail\n- dense sketch buildup\n\nEach prompt must separately state:\n\n1. shot structure and depth layers\n2. camera, eye level, framing, and perspective\n3. one frozen action moment\n4. contour and avoid constraints\n\nUse this pattern:\n\n```text\nUse case: illustration-story\nAsset type: storyboard line-art draft for <Shot ID>.\nPrimary request: real model-created raster line-art image; not SVG, typography, or polished illustration.\n\nSHOT STRUCTURE:\n<subject placement, major objects, foreground / midground / background>\n\nCAMERA AND PERSPECTIVE:\n<shot size, viewpoint, framing, vanishing point, required alignments>\n\nACTION LAYER:\n<one frozen action moment>\n\nDETAIL LIMIT:\nOnly outer contours, key silhouettes, major boundaries, minimal face/hand cues, and necessary perspective guides.\n\nSTYLE CONSTRAINTS:\nSparse thin contour drawing, locked <aspect_ratio>, plain white or off-white background, long edge around 1536px. No color, shadows, gray fills, hatching, stippling, gradients, texture, material rendering, lighting effects, decorative detail, text, labels, borders, UI, watermark, logos, or extra characters.\n```\n\nUse a two-pass blocking-layout then clean-contour process only when preflight identifies concrete perspective or shared-space risk. After one repeated perspective failure, simplify the task to an animation layout or blocking thumbnail instead of repeating the same atmospheric prompt.\n\nLine-art JPGs should normally stay below about `1.5MB`. If one is heavier, retry once with stricter contour-only constraints.\n\nTarget new assets as `.jpg`, usually:\n\n```text\nassets/shot01-line.jpg\nassets/shot02-line.jpg\n```\n\n## Registration\n\nAfter every successful output, register it:\n\n```bash\npython3 \"$STORYBOARD_DIRECTOR_ROOT/scripts/register_story_asset.py\" SESSION.json --asset-type line-art --shot-id \"Shot 01\" --source SOURCE_IMAGE --output-name shot01-line.jpg --validate-profile smoke --workspace-root /path/to/workspace\n```\n\nVerify:\n\n- the registered path is under `assets/`\n- `session.json` has the matching `line_art.gallery` item\n- `session.html` contains the same path\n\nIf the generated source file cannot be located, mark the shot as blocked and keep the prompt for retry.
