It is an inference architecture: hidden human stakes become legible through actions, objects, numbers, routines, systems, omissions, and changes in behavior.\n\nPreserve the user's facts, genre, language, length, point of view, and intended ambiguity. Do not use it as a phrase bank or imitation target.\n\n## Work from a latent structure\n\nBefore drafting, form a compact private model:\n\n- **Stake:** What does the character want, fear, or refuse to admit?\n- **Proxy:** What controllable substitute do they optimize instead?\n- **Evidence:** Which observable traces let a reader infer the stake?\n- **Invariant:** Which repeated choice, phrase, ritual, or misreading defines the relationship?\n- **Pressure:** What makes that pattern increasingly costly or unstable?\n- **Break:** What smallest credible change proves the relationship state has changed?\n- **Residue:** Which earlier object, routine, or unresolved signal can carry the ending?\n\nDo not expose this model unless the user asks for an outline, analysis, or rationale.\n\n## Select before writing\n\nGenerate more candidate observations than the draft needs, then keep only details that do at least one job:\n\n1. reveal character or relationship;\n2. create or violate an expectation;\n3. change meaning when recalled later;\n4. establish scale, cost, or causality;\n5. leave a productive question in the reader's mind.\n\nReject decorative precision, generic luxury inventories, arbitrary quirks, and symbols whose meaning must be explained. A number earns its place by changing inference, not merely by sounding exact.\n\n## Arrange for inference\n\nPrefer this movement when the material supports it:\n\n`observation -> anomaly -> recurrence -> expectation -> small break -> residue`\n\nEstablish the invariant in genuinely different situations. Escalate its meaning rather than copying a phrase mechanically. The decisive break should be legible without authorial emphasis. After it, show consequences and callbacks; do not translate them into a moral.\n\nDirect emotional language is allowed when it is the most precise fact in the scene. The discipline is to remove explanation that merely duplicates evidence, not to ban feeling words.\n\n## Draft in the user's register\n\n- Preserve the input language unless asked to translate.\n- Use concrete nouns and active behavior, but vary sentence length with scene pressure.\n- Let dialogue alter power, expectation, or interpretation. Cut dialogue that only explains psychology.\n- Use objects and operational traces as memory only when they arise naturally from the character's world.\n- Keep uncertainty where the viewpoint character could not honestly know the answer.\n- In narrative nonfiction, never invent a precise fact, quotation, or motive and present it as observed truth. Mark reconstruction or fictionalization clearly.\n\nIf asked to imitate a named living author, do not reproduce that author's distinctive voice. Identify the requested high-level mechanisms, combine them with the user's own material, and produce an original result.\n\n## Revise twice\n\n**Inference pass**\n\n- For each explanation of emotion or motive, ask whether existing evidence already lets the reader infer it.\n- If inference fails, improve the evidence or keep the explanation; do not simply delete clarity.\n- Check that ambiguity is intentional rather than caused by missing causality.\n\n**Pattern pass**\n\n- Check that repetitions evolve, callbacks are prepared, and the break is earned.\n- Remove fake precision, ornamental logistics, conspicuous symbolism, and formulaic staccato.\n- Ensure the ending changes the meaning of something already present instead of introducing a new thesis.\n\nIf either pass reveals a structural failure, revise and run both passes again.\n\n## Deliver only what was requested\n\n- **Draft or rewrite:** Return the narrative, without a craft lecture, unless commentary was requested.\n- **Outline:** Return the latent structure, scene progression, invariant, break, and callback plan.\n- **Critique:** Lead with the highest-impact structural findings and cite exact passages supplied by the user.\n- **Revision plus notes:** Return the revision first, followed by a short account of consequential choices.\n\nDo not claim that a story is successful because it contains numbers, objects, repetition, or a callback.
