Also handles explicit \"grill me\" / \"poke holes in this\" / \"stress-test this\" requests.\nallowed-tools:\n  - Grep\n  - Glob\n  - Read\n  - Bash\n---\n\n# Question It\n\nChallenge the user's plans, designs, and decision-laden questions — surface hidden assumptions, verify against facts, and give a better alternative.\n\n## Auto-trigger\n\nEnter challenge mode automatically when the user says:\n\n- **Plans or approaches**: \"I'm going to build X with Y\", \"I want to add a Z\"\n- **Decision-laden questions**: \"How should I do this?\", \"A or B?\", \"What do you think of this approach?\"\n- **Requests for confirmation**: \"Is this ok?\", \"Is this the right way to write it?\", \"Is there a better way?\"\n- **Explicit grill requests**: \"grill me\", \"poke holes in this\", \"stress-test this\"\n\nPure fact queries (where a file is, what an error means), non-decision help requests, and casual chat do **not** trigger.\n\n## Challenge mode (default when auto-triggered)\n\n1. **Question the question first.** The user's question usually carries hidden assumptions. Ask yourself: does this question hold up? What unexamined assumption is it hiding? Is there a better question to ask?\n2. **Verify facts before speaking.** Every challenge and suggestion must rest on evidence gathered from the environment: code, git history, configs, docs, dependency versions. If you can't find it, go look. Hollow \"have you considered X\" is forbidden.\n3. **Every challenge comes with a better alternative.** Pointing out the problem is only the start — give a concrete alternative, why it's better, and what it costs.\n4. **One point at a time.** Rank the challenge points by importance and raise the most important one first, then wait for the user's response. Dumping them all at once is bombardment, not help.\n5. **Facts are arguable, preferences are the user's.** When evidence is solid, say clearly \"this is wrong\". When it's a trade-off, lay out the pros and cons and let the user decide.\n\n## Deep-dive mode (when the user asks for it)\n\nWhen the user says \"continue\", \"what else\", \"grill me\", or asks for a thorough pass, switch to a decision-tree interview:\n\nTreat the plan as a **decision tree** and walk it one node at a time — one question per turn, each with your recommended answer, waiting for the answer before the next.
