Use when debugging an empty req.body, wiring\n  app.head / an exported HEAD route handler / @app.head, or polling\n  getJournalList for change tracking.\nlicense: MIT\nmetadata:\n  author: hookdeck\n  version: \"0.1.0\"\n  repository: https://github.com/hookdeck/webhook-skills\n---\n\n# BaseLinker Webhooks\n\n**BaseLinker** (rebranded **Base.com**) is a Polish multichannel e-commerce\nplatform — order management, warehouse/inventory, and integrations with\nmarketplaces, stores and couriers.\n\n**This is not a normal webhook source.** Three things make BaseLinker unlike every\nother provider in this repo, and all three must be reflected in your handler:\n\n1. **The transport is HTTP `HEAD`, not `POST`.** A HEAD request has **no body** by\n   definition — reading `req.body` / `await request.json()` yields nothing or\n   throws.\n2. **The entire payload is in the query string.** Read it from the parsed query\n   params. Query values are **always strings** — coerce numerics explicitly.\n3. **There is no signature verification. None.** No HMAC, no signature header, no\n   timestamp/replay check, no shared secret, no handshake or challenge step.\n\nBaseLinker also publishes **no webhook documentation at all**. Its public API\n(`api.baselinker.com`, ~195 methods over `connector.php`) is strictly\nrequest/response, with change tracking done by **polling** (`getJournalList`,\n`getOrderReturnJournalList`, `getInventoryProductLogs`). Neither the English nor\nthe Polish help centre documents an outbound webhook. Everything below about the\nwire format is stated as **observed**, not documented — see\n[references/overview.md](references/overview.md) for exactly what was observed and\nwhat was not.\n\n## When to Use This Skill\n\n- How do I receive BaseLinker (Base.com) webhooks?\n- Why is my BaseLinker webhook body empty / why does `req.body` have nothing in it?\n- How do I handle an HTTP HEAD webhook in Express, Next.js, or FastAPI?\n- How do I read `order_id` and `state` from a BaseLinker callback?\n- How do I verify a BaseLinker webhook signature? (You cannot — there is none.)\n- Is `X-BLToken` a webhook signature? (No — it is the outbound API request header.)\n- How do I track BaseLinker order changes reliably? (Poll `getJournalList`.)\n\n## Verification (core): there is none\n\n**BaseLinker provides no cryptographic authentication for these callbacks.**\nThere is nothing to verify with, so **do not write an HMAC verifier, a signature\nheader check, a timestamp/replay window, or a shared-secret comparison against\nsomething BaseLinker sends** — none of those inputs exist. Inventing one produces\na handler that silently rejects (or silently pretends to check) every delivery.\n\nThis is corroborated by Hookdeck's own API spec, where the Baselinker source's\nauth schema is empty:\n\n```jsonc\n// SourceConfigBaselinkerAuth\n{ \"properties\": {}, \"additionalProperties\": false }   // accepts no secret at all\n```\n\nEvery HMAC-based source in that same spec carries a `webhook_secret_key`.\nBaseLinker sits in the small cohort of zero-property auth schemas alongside AWS\nSNS, Microsoft Graph, Microsoft SharePoint, Monday, Strava, Tikkie, Ethoca and\nZift. There is also **no handshake/challenge/ack step**: unlike Trello (which uses\nHEAD as a verification probe), a BaseLinker HEAD request resolves no challenge\ncontroller and goes straight to ingestion.\n\n**What to do instead** — defence in depth, none of it provided by the platform:\n\n- **Endpoint-URL secrecy.** Use a long, unguessable path\n  (`/webhooks/baselinker/8f3c…`). Never log the full URL.\n- **Network controls.** TLS only; a WAF/rate limit in front; restrict by source IP\n  if you can establish one for your account (BaseLinker publishes no allowlist).\n- **A token *you* append to the endpoint URL.** Because you control the URL you\n  register, you can add your own query param — `?token=<random>` — and compare it\n  timing-safely. This is *your* secret round-tripped back to you, not a\n  BaseLinker signature, and it is visible in the URL. BaseLinker signs nothing.\nfunction verifyUrlToken(query, expected) {\n  if (!expected) return true; // not configured — nothing to check\n  const provided = query.token;\n  if (typeof provided !== 'string') return false;\n  const a = Buffer.from(provided), b = Buffer.from(expected);\n  return a.length === b.length && crypto.timingSafeEqual(a, b);\n}\n```\n\n> **For complete handlers with tests**, see [examples/express/](examples/express/),\n> [examples/nextjs/](examples/nextjs/), [examples/fastapi/](examples/fastapi/).\n\n## The Payload: Query Params on a Bodyless HEAD\n\nThe only query params **actually observed** (in Hookdeck's Baselinker ingestion\nfixtures) are:\n\n| Param | Observed example | Notes |\n|-------|------------------|-------|\n| `order_id` | `42` | A string on the wire — coerce with `Number(...)` / `int(...)` |\n| `state` | `packed` | Opaque string. **Not** a documented enum, and **not** an event-type discriminator |\n\n**These are observed examples, not a documented or exhaustive parameter list.**\nDo not assume any param is present, do not invent additional param names, and do\nnot build a `switch` over a fixed set of `state` values as if it were an event\ncatalogue.\n\n```\nHEAD /webhooks/baselinker?order_id=42&state=packed HTTP/1.1\nHost: your-app.example.com\n```\n\nBecause the delivery carries no body, it tells you *that* something changed, not\n*what*. Fetch the detail from the API with `getOrders` (see below).\n\n## Framework Wiring (the part everyone gets wrong)\n\n| Framework | Correct | Wrong |\n|-----------|---------|-------|\n| Express | `app.head('/webhooks/baselinker', handler)` — read `req.query` | `app.post(...)`, `express.json()` on the route, `req.body` |\n| Next.js (App Router) | `export async function HEAD(request: NextRequest)` — read `request.nextUrl.searchParams` | exporting `POST`, `await request.json()` |\n| FastAPI | `@app.head('/webhooks/baselinker')` — typed query args or `request.query_params` | `@app.post(...)`, a Pydantic body model |\n\nExpress's `app.get()` also answers HEAD requests, but **be explicit**: register\n`app.head()` so the intent is visible and a future `app.get()` refactor cannot\nchange the behaviour. **Do not mount a JSON body parser on this route** — there is\nno body to parse.\n\n## Responding\n\n**A HEAD response MUST NOT carry a body** ([RFC 9110 §9.3.2](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9110#section-9.3.2)).\nReply with a bare `200` and no payload:\n\n```javascript\nres.sendStatus(200);                        // Express — Node omits the body for HEAD\nreturn new Response(null, { status: 200 }); // Next.js\n```\n\n```python\nreturn Response(status_code=200)  # FastAPI (fastapi.Response)\n```\n\nNever `res.json(...)` / `NextResponse.json(...)` / return a dict from FastAPI on\nthis route.\n\nBecause of that rule, when you route BaseLinker through Hookdeck the request id\ncomes back in the **`x-hookdeck-request-id` response header** (exposed via\n`Access-Control-Expose-Headers`) rather than in a body — use it to correlate a\ndelivery with its dashboard entry.\n\n## Fetching the Order Detail (`X-BLToken`)\n\n`X-BLToken` is BaseLinker's **request** auth header for *your* outbound calls to\nits API. **It is not a webhook signature and never appears on an inbound\ndelivery.** After acknowledging the HEAD, look the order up:\n\n```bash\ncurl -X POST https://api.baselinker.com/connector.php \\\n  -H 'X-BLToken: YOUR_API_TOKEN' \\\n  -d 'method=getOrders' \\\n  --data-urlencode 'parameters={\"order_id\":42}'\n```\n\nRate limit: 100 requests/minute. When you create a\nBaselinker **Source** in Hookdeck, its `allowed_http_methods` is seeded to\n`[\"HEAD\"]`.
