Do not edit the target project just because the\nuser asked to update Aegis.\n\n## Default Semantics\n\n- `aegis:update` updates the current host's registered Aegis installation.\n- Updating every registered host requires an explicit `--all` request.\n- If more than one host is registered and the current host cannot be identified,\n  ask one concrete question before updating.\n- Do not update a development checkout when the installed method-pack root is a\n  separate path.\n- Do not perform background automatic updates. The local registry may record\n  `updateMode`, but this skill only performs explicit user-triggered updates.\n\n## Evidence First\n\nFrom the installed method-pack root, inspect the host-scoped registry:\n\n```bash\npython scripts/aegis-update.py status --json\n```\n\nIf the registry is missing, register the current host before updating. Use the\nhost's install guide and actual discovery path rather than guessing.\n\nIf `~/.config/aegis/config.toml` already declares `method_pack_root`, prefer\nthat canonical root when registering additional hosts. Use this updater path only\nwhen the Aegis Kimi plugin is disabled or uninstalled and the user has selected\nexplicit compatibility mode.\n\nPlugin-managed hosts can be registered, but the updater reports that the host\nplugin manager owns the update path:\n\n```bash\npython scripts/aegis-update.py register \\\n  --host opencode \\\n  --sync-mode plugin-managed \\\n  --reload-hint \"restart OpenCode\"\n```\n\n## Update Commands\n\nCurrent or explicitly selected host:\n\n```bash\npython scripts/aegis-update.py update --host <host> --json\n```\n\nAll registered hosts, only when the user explicitly asks for all-host update:\n\n```bash\npython scripts/aegis-update.py update --all --json\n```\n\nPreview without touching files:\n\n```bash\npython scripts/aegis-update.py update --host <host> --dry-run --json\n```\n\nIf the installed checkout has local changes, do not overwrite them. Either ask\nthe user how to proceed or, with explicit permission, preserve them with:\n\n```bash\npython scripts/aegis-update.py update --host <host> --stash --json\n```\n\n## Completion Evidence\n\nTreat the update as complete only when the updater reports the selected host and\nthe post-update doctor verification succeeds. For link-based discovery roots\n(`junction`, `symlink`, or `repo-only`), the updater passes `discoveryRoot`\nthrough to `aegis-doctor.py --discovery-root`; when a registered direct-child\nview declares `discoveryNamePrefix`, the updater also passes\n`--discovery-name-prefix`. For copy-based hosts, it verifies that copied Aegis\nskill directories exist after the copy step, then runs doctor against the\nmethod-pack root.\n\nWhen multiple registered hosts share the same `methodPackRoot`, the updater now\nreuses a single method-pack checkout update and then refreshes each host's\nexposure or verification path separately.\n\nReport:\n\n- selected host / installation id\n- previous and final commit when available\n- whether the install was updated or already current\n- sync mode used\n- doctor verification result\n- restart or reload hint\n\nIf the updater skips a `plugin-managed` host, state that the host plugin manager\nowns the update path and give the reload or reinstall hint.\n\nFor Kimi automatic installations, completion also requires `/plugins info\naegis`, `/reload` or `/new`, the `kimi-code-auto` doctor profile, and the\nhost-native automatic-entry checks from `docs/README.kimi-code.md`.
