Do not proceed with the skill.\n\n## Step 0: Resolve Project Context\n\n**Before anything else, resolve the project context:**\n\n1. **Monorepo check:** Does `.groundwork.yml` exist at the repo root?\n   - If yes → Is `{{project_name}}` non-empty?\n     - If empty → Invoke `Skill(skill=\"groundwork:select-project\")` to select a project, then restart this skill.\n     - If set → Project is `{{project_name}}`, specs at `{{specs_dir}}/`.\n   - If no → Continue to item 3.\n2. **CWD mismatch check (monorepo only):**\n   - Skip if not in monorepo mode or if the project was just selected in item 1 above.\n   - If CWD is the repo root → fine, proceed.\n   - Check which project's path CWD falls inside (compare against all projects in `.groundwork.yml`).\n   - If CWD is inside the selected project's path → fine, proceed.\n   - If CWD is inside a different project's path → warn via `AskUserQuestion`:\n     > \"You're working from `<cwd>` (inside **[cwd-project]**), but the selected Groundwork project is **[selected-project]** (`[selected-project-path]/`). Continue with [current-project] or switch?\"\n- If the user confirms the current project, proceed normally\n- If the user wants to switch, invoke `Skill(skill=\"groundwork:select-project\")` and then continue\n\n## Step 0b: Do we have context?\n\nIf the user called the skill without any context, ask them to provide context on what feature they want to add, modify or remove.\n\n## Step 0c: Load Project Context\n\nBefore clarifying the request, load existing specs so you can detect contradictions and understand constraints:\n\n**Check for and read (if they exist):**\n- `{{specs_dir}}/architecture.md` (or `{{specs_dir}}/architecture/` directory) — technology choices, component boundaries, decision records. Use to catch architecturally infeasible requirements early.\n- `{{specs_dir}}/design_system.md` — design principles, brand decisions, UX patterns. Use to ensure new features align with established design language.\n- `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs.md` (or `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs/` directory) — already loaded implicitly by the contradiction check, but read it explicitly here for full cross-feature context.\n\nFor each, check single file first, then directory. If a directory, aggregate all `.md` files.\n\nIf none exist, that's fine — proceed without them.\n\n## Step 1: Understand the Request\n\nInvoke the `groundwork:understanding-feature-requests` skill to clarify the feature and check for contradictions.\n\nIf architecture and design system were loaded in Step 0.5, provide them as context so the clarification can also check for:\n- **Architectural feasibility** — requirements that conflict with technology choices or component boundaries\n- **Design consistency** — features that would require patterns contradicting the established design system\n\nThis skill will:\n1. Ask clarifying questions (core, exploratory, conditional)\n2. Check for internal, cross-feature, and technical contradictions\n3. Resolve any conflicts before proceeding\n\nOnce understanding is complete and conflicts resolved, continue to Step 2.\n\n## Step 2: Design EARS Requirements\n\nOnce the feature is understood, draft requirements using EARS syntax.\n\n### EARS Syntax Reference\n\n| Pattern | Template | Use When |\n|---------|----------|----------|\n| **Event-Driven** | When `<trigger>` then the system shall `<response>` | Behavior triggered by events |\n| **State-Driven** | While `<state>` the system shall `<behavior>` | Continuous behavior during state |\n| **Unwanted** | If `<condition>` then the system shall `<mitigation>` | Handling errors/edge cases |\n| **Optional** | Where `<feature enabled>` the system shall `<behavior>` | Configurable features |\n| **Complex** | While `<state>`, when `<trigger>`, the system shall `<response>` | Compound conditions |\n\n### Requirement Quality Checklist\n\nEach requirement must be:\n- [ ] **Atomic** - One behavior per requirement\n- [ ] **Testable** - Clear pass/fail criteria exist\n- [ ] **Technology-agnostic** - No implementation details\n- [ ] **Unambiguous** - Single interpretation possible\n- [ ] **Traceable** - Has unique ID following project convention\n\n### ID Convention\n\nFollow the existing PRD convention: `PRD-<FEATURE>-REQ-<NNN>`\n\nExamples from the project:\n- `PRD-FINE-REQ-001` (Finetuning feature)\n- `PRD-GEN-REQ-001` (Generation feature)\n- `PRD-IMP-REQ-001` (Impersonation detection)\n- `PRD-MON-REQ-001` (Monetization)\n- `PRD-DEL-REQ-001` (Data deletion)\n\nFor new features, propose a short code (3-4 chars) and confirm with user.\n\n### Check for Contradictions\n\nBefore presenting the draft, review for conflicts:\n\n#### Cross-Feature Conflicts\nCompare new requirements against existing PRD:\n- **Behavioral conflicts:** New behavior contradicts existing behavior\n- **Resource competition:** Features that compete for same limited resources\n- **UX inconsistency:** Different patterns for similar interactions\n- **Data conflicts:** Contradictory data ownership or access rules\n\nExample: New \"anonymous posting\" requirement conflicts with existing \"all user actions must be audited\"\n\n#### Technical Incompatibilities\nRequirements that may be technically difficult to satisfy together:\n- Performance constraints that conflict\n- Security requirements that limit functionality\n- Scalability needs that conflict with simplicity\n\n**If conflicts found, surface them:**\n> \"I noticed a potential conflict:\n> - [Existing requirement or pattern] requires [X]\n> - This new requirement requires [Y]\n> These may be incompatible because [reason].\n>\n> Options:\n> 1. Modify the new requirement to [alternative]\n> 2. Update the existing requirement\n> 3. Accept the conflict as a known trade-off\n>\n> How should we resolve this?\"\n\n**After resolution:**\n- If user chooses option 1 (modify new): Update the draft requirement and re-present\n- If user chooses option 2 (update existing): Note the PRD change needed and proceed\n- If user chooses option 3 (accept trade-off): Document the trade-off in the feature block and proceed\n\nDo not proceed to Step 3 until conflicts are resolved or explicitly accepted.\n\n### Present Progressively\n\nWhen presenting complex feature blocks:\n- Break into 200-300 word segments\n- Seek confirmation after each section before continuing\n- Start with problem/outcome, then scope, then requirements\n- This catches misunderstandings early and keeps stakeholders engaged\n\n## Step 3: Present Draft for Approval\n\nBefore editing the PRD, present the complete feature block:\n\n```markdown\n### [Feature Number] Feature Name\n\n**Problem / outcome**\n[1-2 sentences describing the problem and desired outcome]\n\n**In scope**\n- [Capability 1]\n- [Capability 2]\n\n**Out of scope**\n- [Explicit exclusion 1]\n\n**EARS Requirements**\n- `PRD-XXX-REQ-001` When [trigger] then the system shall [response].\n- `PRD-XXX-REQ-002` When [trigger] then the system shall [response].\n\n**Acceptance criteria**\n- [Testable criterion 1]\n- [Testable criterion 2]\n\n**Telemetry** (optional)\n- [Metric to track]\n\n**Rollout** (optional)\n- Phase 1: [description]\n- Phase 2: [description]\n```\n\nAsk: \"Does this capture your requirements? Any changes before I update the PRD?\"\n\n**Scope discipline:**\n- Apply YAGNI thinking - challenge every \"nice to have\"\n- Ask: \"What's the simplest version that delivers the core value?\"\n- If scope feels large, propose a phased approach\n\n## Step 4: Commit to PRD\n\n**If in plan mode:** The plan should describe only the file edits in this step — which file to edit, where to insert, and what content to write. Do not plan architecture, code, or technical implementation of the feature.\n\n**PRD Location:** The PRD may be stored as:\n- Single file: `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs.md`\n- Directory: `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs/` (with content split across files)\n\nWhen the user approves:\n\n1. **Check if PRD exists** - Look for single file first, then directory\n   - If missing, create `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs.md` using the template in `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/references/product-design/prd-template.md`\n   - Ensure `{{specs_dir}}/` directory exists first\n\n2. **Route the content** - Determine where to write based on spec format:\n   - **Single file mode:** Edit `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs.md` directly\n   - **Directory mode:** Route to appropriate file:\n     - Features with ID (e.g., PRD-AUTH-*) → `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs/03-features/<feature-code>.md`\n     - Open questions → `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs/05-open-questions.md`\n     - NFR changes → `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs/02-non-functional.md`\n     - Product context changes → `{{specs_dir}}/product_specs/01-product-context.md`\n     - Tra","tagline":"Create detailed product requirements document (PRD) for a feature.
