This is the single most important design feature\nof the language, and most people coming from Java or C# get it wrong at first.\n\n## 1. Keep Interfaces Small\n\nThe bigger the interface, the weaker the abstraction.\n\n```go\n// ✅ Good — focused, composable\ntype Reader interface {\n    Read(p []byte) (n int, err error)\n}\n\ntype Writer interface {\n    Write(p []byte) (n int, err error)\n}\n\ntype ReadWriter interface {\n    Reader\n    Writer\n}\n\n// ❌ Bad — kitchen sink interface\ntype FileManager interface {\n    Read(path string) ([]byte, error)\n    Write(path string, data []byte) error\n    Delete(path string) error\n    List(dir string) ([]string, error)\n    Move(src, dst string) error\n    Copy(src, dst string) error\n    Stat(path string) (os.FileInfo, error)\n    Watch(path string) (<-chan Event, error)\n}\n```\n\nGuideline: 1-3 methods is ideal. If you need more, compose smaller interfaces.\n\n## 3. Accept Interfaces, Return Structs\n\n```go\n// ✅ Good — accepts interface, returns concrete type\nfunc NewUserService(store UserReader, logger Logger) *UserService {\n    return &UserService{store: store, logger: logger}\n}\n\n// ❌ Bad — returns interface (hides the concrete type for no reason)\nfunc NewUserService(store UserReader) UserServiceInterface {\n    return &UserService{store: store}\n}\n```\n\nReturn a concrete type so callers get full access to the type's methods.\nReturning an interface only makes sense when the function genuinely\nreturns different concrete types based on input (factory pattern).\n\n## 4. Verify Interface Compliance at Compile Time\n\nUse the blank identifier assignment to catch broken contracts early:\n\n```go\n// Verify *PostgresStore implements service.UserReader at compile time\nvar _ service.UserReader = (*PostgresStore)(nil)\n\n// Verify LogHandler implements http.Handler\nvar _ http.Handler = (*LogHandler)(nil)\n\n// For value receivers:\nvar _ fmt.Stringer = Status(0)\n```\n\nPlace these immediately after the type declaration. They cost nothing\nat runtime and prevent silent contract breakage.\n\n## 5. Don't Use Pointers to Interfaces\n\n```go\n// ❌ Bad — pointer to interface is almost never correct\nfunc process(r *io.Reader) { ... }\n\n// ✅ Good — interface is already a pointer internally\nfunc process(r io.Reader) { ... }\n```\n\nAn interface value is internally two pointers (type + data).\nA pointer to an interface is a pointer to a pointer — needless indirection.\n\nThe only exception: when you need to replace the interface value itself\n(swap the implementation at runtime), which is extremely rare.\n\n## 6. The Empty Interface\n\n`interface{}` (or `any` in Go 1.18+) means you've given up on type safety.\nUse it sparingly:\n\n```go\n// ✅ Acceptable — generic container before generics / stdlib compatibility\nfunc Marshal(v any) ([]byte, error)\n\n// ✅ Better (Go 1.18+) — use generics instead of any\nfunc Map[T, U any](slice []T, fn func(T) U) []U { ... }\n\n// ❌ Bad — lazy interface design\nfunc Process(data any) any { ... } // what does this even do?\n```\n\n## 7.
