Reviews should be constructive, specific,\nand cite the relevant principle behind each finding.\n\n## Operating Modes\n\nPick the mode that matches the request before starting:\n\n- **Diff review** (default) — review only the changed lines plus enough\n  surrounding context to judge them. Use for PRs and working-tree changes.\n- **File/package review** — review the named files or packages in full,\n  including their tests.\n- **Full audit** — sweep the entire codebase. Use the strategy in\n  \"Auditing Large Codebases\" below and aggregate everything into one report.\n\n## Review Process\n\nExecute these steps in order. For each finding, classify severity:\n- 🔴 **BLOCKER** — Must fix before merge. Correctness, data loss, security.\n- 🟡 **WARNING** — Should fix. Maintainability, idiomatic Go, clarity.\n- 🟢 **SUGGESTION** — Consider improving. Style, naming, documentation.\n\n## 0. Run the Toolchain First\n\nBefore reading code manually, let the tools catch the mechanical issues\n(skip any tool that is not installed and note it in the report):\n\n```bash\ngo build ./...          # it must compile\ngo vet ./...            # suspicious constructs\ngolangci-lint run       # if the repo has a config\ngo test -race ./...     # tests pass, no data races\n```\n\nReport tool findings alongside manual findings — a failing `go vet` is\nan automatic 🔴 BLOCKER. Never report an issue a tool already proves\nabsent.\n\n## 1. Correctness & Safety\n\n### Error Handling\n- Every error is checked. No blank identifier `_` discarding errors silently.\n- Errors are wrapped with context: `fmt.Errorf(\"fetch user %d: %w\", id, err)`.\n- Error values compared with `errors.Is()` / `errors.As()`, never `==`.\n- No `panic` outside of `init()` or truly unrecoverable situations.\n- Errors handled exactly once — no log-and-return patterns.\n\n### Nil Safety\n- Pointer receivers checked before dereference when nil is a valid state.\n- Map reads guarded or use comma-ok idiom.\n- Channel operations consider closed/nil channels.\n- Slice operations check bounds where relevant.\n\n### Concurrency\n- Shared mutable state protected by `sync.Mutex` or channels.\n- No goroutine leaks — every goroutine has a clear termination path.\n- Context propagation: all blocking calls accept and respect `context.Context`.\n- `sync.WaitGroup` or `errgroup.Group` used for goroutine lifecycle.\n\n## 2. API Design\n\n- Exported functions have doc comments starting with the function name.\n- Accept interfaces, return concrete types.\n- Use functional options (`WithTimeout(d)`) over config structs for optional params.\n- Context is always the first parameter: `func Foo(ctx context.Context, ...)`.\n- Return `error` as the last return value.\n- Avoid `bool` parameters — prefer named types or options.\n\n## 3. Idiomatic Go\n\n- Uses `:=` for local variables, `var` for zero-value intent.\n- No unnecessary `else` after return/continue/break.\n- Guard clauses and early returns reduce nesting.\n- `defer` used for cleanup, placed right after resource acquisition.\n- `range` used over manual index iteration where appropriate.\n- Struct literals use field names.\n- Interfaces defined at consumer, not producer.\n\n## 4. Package Structure\n\n- Package names are short, lowercase, singular nouns.\n- No circular dependencies between packages.\n- `internal/` used for non-public packages.\n- `cmd/` contains main packages, one per binary.\n- Clear separation of concerns — no god packages.\n\n## 5. Testing\n\n- Test functions follow `TestXxx` naming convention.\n- Table-driven tests used for multiple input/output combinations.\n- Test helpers use `t.Helper()` for clean stack traces.\n- No test logic in `init()` — use `TestMain` when needed.\n- Tests use `testify/assert` or `testify/require` consistently, or stdlib only.\n- Edge cases covered: empty input, nil, zero values, max values.\n- `t.Parallel()` used where safe.\n\n## 6. Documentation\n\n- All exported types, functions, and constants have doc comments.\n- Doc comments start with the name of the entity.\n- Package-level doc comment in `doc.go` for non-trivial packages.\n- Complex algorithms or business logic have inline comments explaining *why*.\n\n## 7. Dependencies\n\n- `go.mod` has no replace directives in committed code (except monorepos).\n- No unused dependencies.\n- Dependencies are from well-maintained, reputable sources.\n- Indirect dependencies are understood and acceptable.\n\n## Auditing Large Codebases\n\nWhen the scope exceeds ~20 files, do not read everything in one linear\npass. Split the audit into independent passes:\n\n1. Enumerate packages (`go list ./...`) and group them by layer\n   (handlers, services, stores, shared libraries).\n2. Run one focused pass per concern from sections 1-7 (correctness,\n   API design, idioms, structure, testing, docs, dependencies).\n3. If your environment supports delegating work to parallel sub-agents\n   or tasks, assign each pass to one — they are independent by design.\n   Otherwise run them sequentially, one concern at a time.\n4.
