Daytona artifacts workflow for validated screenshots and optional videos.\n---\n\n# Daytona Recording Artifacts\n\nUse this skill to collect proof that a Daytona UI flow works.\nUse `fraimz` before declaring the flow passed. If the user asks\nto do e2e tests for a feature, frame proof is required unless they explicitly\nask for non-UI or mock-only validation.\n\n## Default: Frame-by-Frame HTML Proof\n\nThe default proof format is a browseable HTML page with named PNG screenshots\nfor each step of the flow. This is faster to produce, easier to review, and\nworks on any device.\n\nUse video (MP4) only when the proof requires motion: streaming text, loading\nspinners, animations, drag-and-drop, or real-time interactions that a static\nframe cannot capture. When video is used, embed it inside the frame-by-frame\nHTML page alongside the static frames.\n\nWhen a coded eval exists, prefer the eval runner frame output first:\n\n```bash\npnpm evals --flow <flow-id> --cdp-url <printed-electron-cdp-url>\n```\n\nThe runner writes `evals/results/<run-id>/index.html` plus validated PNG evidence\nfrom `ctx.prove(...)` and `ctx.screenshot(...)`. Serve or copy that result\ndirectory for PR evidence.\n\n### How to produce frame proof\n\n1. Serve a directory from the sandbox on port 8090:\n\n```bash\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'bash -lc \"mkdir -p /workspace/proof-frames; nohup python3 -m http.server 8090 --directory /workspace/proof-frames >/dev/null 2>&1 &\"'\n```\n\n2. At each important state, capture a `browser_screenshot` locally and upload\n   it to the sandbox with a numbered name like `01-auth-landing.png`,\n   `02-org-filled.png`, etc.\n\n3. Generate a browseable `index.html` with all frames as labeled images in a\n   responsive grid. Include the branch, commit, and sandbox name.\n\n4. Get the public URL:\n\n```bash\nFRAMES_URL=$(daytona preview-url \"$SANDBOX\" -p 8090 2>/dev/null | grep -v \"^time=\")\necho \"${FRAMES_URL}/index.html\"\n```\n\n5. Post the index URL in the PR body. Individual frame PNGs are also directly\n   linkable: `${FRAMES_URL}/01-auth-landing.png`.\n\n### Fallback when `/daytona-artifacts` is unavailable\n\nThe preferred path is `test-on-daytona.sh --artifacts-volume`, which mounts and\nserves `/daytona-artifacts`. If that path is unavailable or not writable, do not\nstop at local screenshots. Use `/workspace/proof-frames` as a fallback:\n\n```bash\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'bash -lc \"mkdir -p /workspace/proof-frames; nohup python3 -m http.server 8090 --bind 0.0.0.0 --directory /workspace/proof-frames >/tmp/proof-frames-http.log 2>&1 &\"'\n```\n\nUpload the generated `index.html` and PNG frames there, then verify every file is\nnon-zero before sharing:\n\n```bash\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'bash -lc \"ls -lh /workspace/proof-frames && curl -s -I http://127.0.0.1:8090/index.html | sed -n \\\"1,8p\\\"\"'\ndaytona preview-url \"$SANDBOX\" -p 8090\n```\n\nIf you use this fallback, say so in the PR/eval report because the files are not\non the persistent artifacts volume.\n\n### When to include video clips\n\nEmbed short MP4 clips in the same proof directory when the step involves:\n\n- Streaming text appearing in real-time (chat responses).\n- Loading/progress indicators that resolve.\n- Animations or transitions between states.\n- Drag-and-drop or multi-step interactions.\n\nReference them from the HTML index alongside the static frames.\n\n## Recording Standard (video, when needed)\n\nA useful Daytona recording should look like a person using the product, even\nthough CDP is driving the browser or Electron window.\n\n- Record the entire relevant journey, not only the final state.\n- Start before the first visible click and stop after the final visible success state.\n- Drive Chrome/Electron through visible controls with `browser_snapshot`, `browser_click`, and `browser_fill` wherever possible.\n- Keep API calls, localStorage writes, direct navigation, and filesystem checks out of the recorded path unless they are unavoidable setup.\n- If invisible setup is unavoidable, label it in the PR/eval and resume the recording at the next visible user step.\n- Prefer slower, understandable click-by-click recordings over faster scripts that jump between states.\n- The recording should be understandable without terminal output; logs and API checks are supporting evidence only.\n\n## The Volume\n\nThe reusable Daytona volume is:\n\n```text\nipollowork-eval-artifacts:/daytona-artifacts\n```\n\nThe helper serves it on port `8090` when `--artifacts-volume` or\n`--record-video` is used.\n\nExpected layout:\n\n```text\n/daytona-artifacts/recordings\n/daytona-artifacts/screenshots\n/daytona-artifacts/validation\n```\n\n## Start With Artifacts\n\nFor screenshots and validation notes without video:\n\n```bash\nbash .devcontainer/test-on-daytona.sh [branch-or-commit] --artifacts-volume\n```\n\nFor full human-review evidence:\n\n```bash\nbash .devcontainer/test-on-daytona.sh [branch-or-commit] --record-video --recording-name <name>\n```\n\n`--record-video` implies `--artifacts-volume`.\n\n## Capture Screenshot Checkpoints\n\nCapture a persistent screenshot from the Daytona display:\n\n```bash\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'bash .devcontainer/capture-daytona-screenshot.sh'\n```\n\nUse this after important states: welcome screen, workspace created, settings\nconnected, task response visible, error state reproduced, or final success.\n\nBefore sharing any screenshot URL, follow `fraimz` and inspect\nthe saved PNG itself. Confirm the visible image shows the claimed state and is\nnot covered by a native picker, modal, toast, desktop window, or unrelated\noverlay. If the screenshot does not match, recapture and inspect a replacement.\n\n## Stop Recording\n\nAlways stop with the helper so ffmpeg finalizes the MP4 cleanly:\n\n```bash\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'bash .devcontainer/stop-daytona-recording.sh'\n```\n\nDo not use `kill -9`; it can corrupt the file.\n\nAfter stopping, verify the recording exists and has duration:\n\n```bash\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'ls -lh /daytona-artifacts/recordings'\ndaytona exec \"$SANDBOX\" -- 'ffprobe -v error -show_entries format=duration -of default=nw=1:nk=1 /daytona-artifacts/recordings/<name>.mp4'\n```\n\nIf the duration is near zero, missing, or the file is absent, the recording is\nnot usable evidence.\n\n## Get Artifact URLs\n\nGet the artifacts base URL:\n\n```bash\nARTIFACTS_URL=$(daytona preview-url \"$SANDBOX\" -p 8090 2>/dev/null | grep -v \"^time=\")\n```\n\nThen append paths:\n\n```bash\necho \"${ARTIFACTS_URL}/recordings/<name>.mp4\"\necho \"${ARTIFACTS_URL}/screenshots/<name>.png\"\n```\n\nArtifact proxy URLs are not permanent. If the sandbox stops, the old\n`daytonaproxy` URL will fail even when files still exist in\n`/daytona-artifacts`. The AI should inspect state with\nbrowser tools and use screenshots to validate visible behavior before declaring\nthe flow passed.\n\nDo not use a video as the primary demo if most of the flow happened through\nhidden automation. In that case, mark the run as technical validation only and\nproduce a new frame-by-frame proof for human review.\n\nIf you discover invalid evidence after the fact, do not reuse the same URL as\nif it were valid.
