If it uses an older model (e.g. `gemini-3.6-flash`, `gemini-2.5-flash`, or `gemini-1.5-flash`), inform the user and **offer to upgrade the model to `gemini-3.8-flash`**.\n   - Check if a `persona` input is specified. If missing or set to `straight`, **offer to add one of the custom reviewer personalities** (such as Dazbo or Palpatine).\n   - Check if `include_comment_history` is enabled (default is `true` in latest versions).\n\n3. **Check for legacy/competing workflows**:\n   - Search for references to deprecated actions like `google-gemini/run-gemini-cli`, `google-github-actions/run-gemini-cli`, or `google-github-actions/gemini-code-assist`.\n   - If found, warn the user that legacy workflows will conflict with the new action and ask for permission to remove them.\n\n### Step 2: Prompt for customisation preferences & persona selection\n\nAsk the user:\n\n1. **Workflows to install or update**:\n   - **PR Code Review** (creates/updates `.github/workflows/gemini-review.yml`)\n   - **Issue Triage** (creates/updates `.github/workflows/gemini-triage.yml`)\n   - **Both** (recommended)\n\n2. **Gemini Model**:\n   - **`gemini-3.8-flash`** (Default & recommended — fast, cost-efficient, native structured JSON output, context caching support).\n   - Offer model upgrade if an older model was detected in Step 1.\n\n3. **Reviewer Personality / Persona**:\n   Provide a clear summary of the available character personas to the user so they can choose their preferred tone:\n   - **`straight`** (Default): Standard, professional, and direct technical code reviewer without character overlays.\n   - **`dazbo`**: Practical, warm, and mildly cheeky software engineer personality. Uses approachable humour, avoids dry corporate boilerplate, and displays escalating dry sarcasm/humour if prior review recommendations are ignored without explanation in follow-up commits.\n   - **`palpatine`**: Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) from Star Wars. Ominous, imperial, dramatic, demanding absolute perfection (\"Do it.\", \"Good, good...\", \"Unlimited power!\", \"Execute Order 66 on this bug\"), with escalating imperial wrath for unaddressed flaws.\n\n4. **Additional Customisation Options**:\n   - **Preferred Language**: Default `English (UK)`. Options: `English (US)`, `French`, `Spanish`, etc.\n   - **Path Inclusions / Exclusions**: Restrict triggers to specific files (e.g. `src/**` or excluding `docs/**`).\n   - **PR Discussion Thread History**: `include_comment_history: 'true'` (Default) to enable multi-turn comment tracking across successive commits.\n   - **Prompt Configuration TOMLs**: Option to copy `gemini-review.toml` or `gemini-triage.toml` into the root of the repository for custom prompt overrides.\n\n### Step 3: Write or update workflow files and configuration TOMLs\n\nCreate or update workflow files in `.github/workflows/` incorporating all chosen preferences from Step 2.\n\nEnsure the workflow specifies:\n- `gemini_model: 'gemini-3.8-flash'`\n- `persona: '<chosen_persona>'` (e.g. `straight`, `dazbo`, or `palpatine`)\n- `language: '<chosen_language>'` (e.g. `English (UK)`)\n- `include_comment_history: 'true'`\n\nIf the user opted for local prompt configurations, fetch or write `gemini-review.toml` and `gemini-triage.toml` at the repository root.\n\n### Step 4: Secrets setup and repository recommendation\n\nCheck if the GitHub CLI (`gh`) is installed and authenticated by running `gh auth status`.\n\n**If `gh` is available and authenticated**:\n1. Ask the user for their Gemini API key (from Google AI Studio).\n2. Offer to set the GitHub repository secret automatically by running:\n   ```bash\n   echo \"<API_KEY>\" | gh secret set GEMINI_API_KEY\n   ```\n   > [!IMPORTANT]\n   > Do NOT pass the secret directly in shell command flags (e.g. `--body`) where it might be logged in terminal history.
