Do not begin Step 0 until every variable has a concrete value.\n\n## Triggers\n\nInvoke this skill when:\n- The Datadog Agent is already installed with SSI (`DD_APM_INSTRUMENTATION_ENABLED=host` was used) and you need to configure Unified Service Tags on the application service\n- The user wants to set `DD_SERVICE`, `DD_ENV`, `DD_VERSION` on a running service\n- SSI is installed but `/proc/<pid>/maps` doesn't show the language tracer (launcher-only injection)\n\nDo NOT invoke this skill if:\n- The Datadog Agent is not yet installed — run `agent-install` first\n- SSI packages are missing from `/opt/datadog-packages/` — re-run `agent-install`\n- The target is a Kubernetes cluster — use `dd-apm-k8s-enable-ssi` instead\n\n---\n\n## Background\n\nWhen the install script runs with `DD_APM_INSTRUMENTATION_ENABLED=host`, it:\n1. Installs `datadog-apm-inject` and language library packages under `/opt/datadog-packages/`\n2. Writes the launcher path into `/etc/ld.so.preload`\n3. No workaround; must use a glibc-based OS.\n\n---\n\n## Context to resolve before acting\n\n| Variable | How to resolve |\n|---|---|\n| `SERVICE_NAME` | Ask the user — how the service should appear in Datadog APM (e.g. `payment-api`) |\n| `ENV` | Ask the user — environment name (e.g. `production`, `staging`, `dev`) |\n| `VERSION` | Ask the user or read from the app's version file / git tag |\n| `SYSTEMD_SERVICE_NAME` | From `systemctl list-units --type=service --state=running` on the host — the unit running the app |\n| `SSH_KEY` | Path to SSH private key |\n| `SSH_USER` | SSH username |\n| `SSH_HOST` | Hostname or IP of the target host |\n\n---\n\n## Step 0 (Only if existing instrumentation detected): Remove Manual Instrumentation\n\n- Python: `pip uninstall ddtrace`, remove `import ddtrace` / `ddtrace-run` from CMD\n- Node.js: `npm uninstall dd-trace`, remove `require('dd-trace')` \n- Java: remove `-javaagent:/path/to/dd-java-agent.jar` JVM flag\n- Ruby: `gem uninstall ddtrace`, remove `require 'ddtrace'`\n- .NET: remove `Datadog.Trace` NuGet and profiler env vars\n\nAfter removing, restart the service. **Confirm with the user before restarting.** Tell the user: \"I need to restart `<SYSTEMD_SERVICE_NAME>` to remove the old instrumentation. This will cause a brief outage.
